The short file fetishism, published in 1927, has a special place in Freud's oeuvre. He is among the few metapsychological experiments of the period, which he himself characterized as a" phase of regressive development", in which the focus of his research shifted from the wider field of analytical clinic to questions of culture. At the same time, it is one of the few metapsychological texts in which Freud, in his desire to articulate the universal mechanisms of the Psychic Apparatus, relies on a phenomenon arising from the field of perversion. This, with rare exceptions, was also understood in early psychoanalysis at least as a field of theoretical, if not practical, aberration, as a kind of dead sleeve of psychoanalytic theory; at the same time, it is clear that it was perversion that was one of the key starting points of Freud's early attempt to formulate a "metatheory" of psychoanalysis in three treatises on the theory of sexuality. So how to read Freud's fetishism in order to understand a relatively rare and delimited clinical category as a manifestation of the General Laws of the human psyche? What is the conceptual network in which this specific phenomenon is placed and transformed at the same time? What directions of further reading Do they unfold with this?

Kratki spis Fetišizem, objavljen leta 1927, ima v Freudovem opusu posebno mesto. Sodi med redke metapsihološke poskuse iz obdobja, ki ga je sam označil kot »fazo regresivnega razvoja«, v katerem se je težišče njegovih raziskav iz širšega polja analitične klinike premaknilo k vprašanjem kulture. Obenem je eden redkih metapsiholoških tekstov, v katerem se Freud v želji po artikulaciji univerzalnih mehanizmov psihičnega aparata opre na fenomen, ki izhaja iz polja perverzije. Ta je bila — z redkimi izjemami — tudi v zgodnji psihoanalizi razumljena vsaj kot polje teoretske, če že ne praktične aberacije, kot nekakšen mrtvi rokav psihoanalitične teorije; hkrati pa je jasno, da je bila prav perverzija eno ključnih izhodišč Freudovega zgodnjega poskusa oblikovanja »metateorije« psihoanalize v Treh razpravah o teoriji seksualnosti. Kako torej brati Freudov Fetišizem, da bi razmeroma redko in zamejeno klinično kategorijo razumeli kot manifestacijo obče zakonitosti človeške psihe? Kakšna je konceptualna mreža, v katero se ta specifični fenomen umešča in jo obenem preoblikuje? Katere smeri nadaljnjega branja se s tem razpirajo?
