In Villa Vipolze we will be presented with the opera "Don Giovanni" - an opera in two acts (ten paintings) by A. Mozart.

Don Juan (A. K. A. Don Giovanni)

After the great success of the Opera The Marriage Of Figaro in Prague in 1786, the Prague stanovskaya Theatre commissioned a new opera from Mozart. In the disbanded 18. in the XIX century, the old story of the Spanish nobleman don Juan Tenorio, for whom there were never enough women, but he immediately got tired of each, was in great fashion. In February 1787, the opera one-act "Don Giovanni O sia il convitato di pietra" by Giuseppe Gazzaniga, based on a libretto by Giovanni Bertati, was staged in Venice.

The Opera had an unprecedented success, and the Prague impresario Guardasoni asked Mozart to write a new opera on the subject. The librettist of Figaro's wedding, Lorenzo da Ponte, improved and expanded Bertati's libretto (he helped himself in this with Moli Amcro's comedy Don Juan ou le festin de pierre) and in the summer of 1787 Mozart took up composing.

The original title of Mozart's opera is Don Giovanni , and its libretto, by Lorenzo da Ponte, is also in Italian. The premiere was scheduled to take place in Prague on the 14th. in October 1787 in honor of the arrival of Archduchess Maria Theresa Josepha with her husband in Prague. Mozart is 1. in October, he traveled from Vienna to Prague to conduct rehearsals, and due to the difficulty of the work, the premiere had to be postponed by fourteen days. That was 29. in October 1787.

Overture

Overture 28. in October, on the eve of the christening performance, it had not yet been written. Mozart had fun in the company of friends and improvised three different pieces for them on the clavichord, from which they had to choose one as a future overture. Between two and three o'clock in the morning, he began writing. In order not to fall asleep at work, he asked his wife Constance to read him Tales From The Thousand and One Nights. In three hours, the overture was ready, in the morning they took the score to the copyist, and the musicians got notes on the counters at the performance, on which the ink had not yet dried.

Despite the fact that they played prima vista (at first glance), they played the overture with such a flight that the audience rewarded them with thunderous applause. Mozart, who conducted from behind the harpsichord, said with satisfaction to the musicians around him: "a few notes lay under the counter, but it went well anyway.«

The overture begins with a solemn introduction, in which Mozart used Cold, otherworldly music, which in the second act accompanies the arrival of the stone guest for dinner to don Giovanni. This is followed by a complete sonata allegro in D Major, a picture of a dissolute nobleman driven from delight to delight by lust. However, The Sinner cannot escape the exhortations to repent: again and again they set the way for him in the form of a menacingly emphasized falling motif from five tones.

The overture does not have a concluding cadence, but, after modulating to F Major, continues directly with the first scene of the Opera.
