The beak flute ensemble 'Le PH Canterni' started working years ago within the Academy of music in Ljubljana under the leadership of prof. Matej Bajt, in collaboration with her students. Today, the girls are already graduates and, in addition to being a professor, also established soloists. They dedicate themselves to performing music from the Middle Ages to the modern on original historical instruments with an emphasis on historical performance practice. They regularly perform at concerts and festivals in Slovenia and Italy, including the cycle of concerts of Early Music in Trieste, the festival of medieval and Renaissance music in Ljubljana, the cycle of concerts by Candlelight in Globodol, the Musica Locopolitana Festival in Skofja Loka, the cycles of musical youth autumn serenade with concerts throughout Slovenia and at the Academy of music. They also presented themselves at the Reme International Congress in October 2016 in Celje and a high-profile concert on the occasion of the European Early Music Day 2017 as part of the Brezice Festival.
The ensemble recreates music for a trio of beaked flutes of very diverse genres from different periods; from the Middle Ages through ars Nova and Italian Trecento all the way to the late Baroque, as well as reaching for the literature of contemporary authors 20. and 21. century. It deals with historical performances of compositions based on research of historical performance practice and interpretation of different styles. For this purpose, it uses original historical musical instruments suitable for the selected repertoire: on copies of Renaissance and baroque flutes, as well as modern instruments. He draws his repertoire, among other things, from a rich treasury of Renaissance polyphony, dance homophones and vocal music, as well as baroque chamber music in original compositions or re-compositions written for diverse ensembles; such was also the usual performing practice in old music.
The mission of the ensemble Le PH Mankni is to bring the beaked flute closer to a wider audience, present it on a professional level and take care of its popularization in Slovenia, as it is the only such Ensemble in this area.

Mateje Bajt, v sodelovanju z njenimi študentkami. Danes so dekleta že diplomantke in poleg profesorice tudi uveljavljene solistke.
