Meeting in honor of Francesco Macedoni (1927-2014), where the Slovenian translation of Breda Novak's book "stories from Idrija" will be presented . The meeting will be attended by the initiator of the translation Josko Vetrih , the designer of the book Silvan Bevchar , the writer Andrea Bellavite , Mauro Fontanini from the Terzo Teatro Collective from Gorizia and the president of the Gorizia Cultural Center Igor Komel .
Kulturni dom in Gorizia and the Maja cultural cooperative have been the initiators of the project "Chedermaci of today" for many years, whose fundamental message that Gorizia should not forget about the personalities who shaped our space refers to numerous individuals of Slovenian, Italian and Friulian nationality, who have significantly shaped the multi-ethnic cultural heritage of Gorizia over the centuries.
Francesco (Cesco) Macedonio (1927-2014), a renowned Italian theatre director and writer of Slovenian roots, is among the figures that should not be forgotten. He was born on the 19th. in February 1927, in Idrija, mother Francesca (Fana) Vidmar, in the small town of mercury, to which he was deeply attached. In his fiery speeches about Idrija, the role of the Idrija ambassador was expressed.
On the tenth anniversary of his death (2014-2024), on the initiative of many friends, a special publication was published in Italian called "Racconti di Idria" – a collection of dashes in which the author's love for his idyllic Idria is revealed. At the same time, a desire arose among the Friends of Gorizia and the Cultural Center in Gorizia that the book should also be published in the Slovenian language.
This initiative is based on the fact that Francesco Macedonio was a sincere friend of the Slovenian national community in Italy and a long-time collaborator of the Cultural Centre in Gorizia, the Slovenian permanent theatre in Trieste (SSG) and Sng Nova Gorica (PDG). In his directorial work, he often staged works by Slovenian and local authors. So today we have before us the collection "Stories from Idrija" – a sincere and respectful tribute to Francesco Macedoni, prepared by the wider Slovenian cultural community. At the very beginning, the initiative was supported by the municipality of Idrija and the City Library and Reading Room of Idrija, then the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenians abroad and the municipalities of Nova Gorica and Gorica, which jointly held the title of European capital of culture in 2025, joined as patrons.
The meeting is organized in joint cooperation between the Cultural Center in Gorizia and the cultural cooperative Maja (project Cedermaci of today 25), in cooperation with the municipality of Idrija and the City Library of Idrija, with the patronage of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.

Srečanje v čast Francescu Macedoniju (1927–2014), na katerem bodo predstavili slovenski prevod Brede Novak knjige »Zgodbe iz Idrije« . Na srečanju bodo sodelovali pobudnik prevoda Joško Vetrih , oblikovalec knjige Silvan Bevčar , pisatelj Andrea Bellavite , Mauro Fontanini iz Kolektiva Terzo Teatro iz Gorice in predsednik Kulturnega doma Gorica Igor Komel .
Kulturni dom v Gorici in Kulturna zadruga Maja sta že vrsto let pobudnika projekta » Čedermaci današnjega časa «, katerega temeljno sporočilo, naj Gorica ne pozabi na osebnosti, ki so krojile naš prostor, se nanaša na številne posameznike slovenske, italijanske in furlanske narodnosti, ki so skozi stoletja pomembno sooblikovali večetnično kulturno dediščino goriškega prostora.
Med osebnosti, ki jih ne smemo prepustiti pozabi, sodi tudi Francesco (Cesco) Macedonio (1927–2014), priznan italijanski gledališki režiser in pisatelj slovenskih korenin. Rodil se je 19. februarja 1927 v Idriji materi Frančiški (Fani) Vidmar, v mestecu živega srebra, na katerega je bil globoko navezan. V njegovih ognjevitih nagovorih o Idriji se je izražala vloga idrijskega ambasadorja.
Ob deseti obletnici njegove smrti (2014–2024) je na pobudo številnih prijateljev izšla posebna publikacija v italijanskem jeziku z naslovom »Racconti di Idria« – zbirka črtic, v katerih se razkriva avtorjeva ljubezen do njegove idilične Idrije. Istočasno se je med goriškimi prijatelji in Kulturnim domom v Gorici porodila želja, da bi knjiga izšla tudi v slovenskem jeziku.
Ta pobuda temelji na dejstvu, da je bil Francesco Macedonio iskren prijatelj slovenske narodne skupnosti v Italiji ter dolgoletni sodelavec Kulturnega doma v Gorici, Slovenskega stalnega gledališča v Trstu (SSG) in SNG Nova Gorica (PDG). Pri svojem režiserskem delu je pogosto uprizarjal tudi dela slovenskih in lokalnih avtorjev. Tako imamo danes pred seboj zbirko »Zgodbe iz Idrije« – iskren in spoštljiv poklon Francescu Macedoniju, ki jo je pripravila širša slovenska kulturna skupnost. Že takoj na začetku sta pobudo podprli Občina Idrija in Mestna knjižnica in čitalnica Idrija, nato so kot pokrovitelji pristopili še Urad Republike Slovenije za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu ter občini Nova Gorica in Gorica, ki sta v letu 2025 skupaj nosili naziv Evropska prestolnica kulture.
Srečanje prirejajo v skupnem sodelovanju Kulturni dom v Gorici in kulturna zadruga Maja (projekt Čedermaci današnjega časa 25), v sodelovanju z Občino Idrija in Mestno knjižnico Idrija, s pokroviteljstvom Dežele Furlanije Julijske krajine.
