The exhibition at Kromberk castle includes a selection of fine artists of the older and middle generation who lived and created in the city or who contributed to the artistic and cultural growth of Nova Gorica and its surroundings with their presence, artistic, exhibition, organizational activities or pedagogical, design and restoration work.
The Nova Gorica Cultural Centre and the Gorizia Museum continue large joint exhibition projects that connect different venues. This exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the city of Nova Gorica. The title" there was a line in the beginning " was borrowed from Vanja Mervic, who named his installation (at the beginning of the alaktas a straight line, act 2), referring to Churchill and the post-war tracing of borders with a ruler. Nova Gorica was also formed due to the drawn line, but on the other hand, the line is also a basic artistic element.
The overview exhibition with a selection of works of art brings an insight into the rich creativity that ennobles Nova Gorica from its beginnings to the present day with its diverse artistic language. Works created from the beginning of Nova Gorica until around 1990 are on display at Kromberk Castle, and from 1990 to the present, together with an overview of public plastic, at the Nova Gorica City Gallery.
Razstava na Gradu Kromberk zajema izbor likovnih umetnikov starejše in srednje generacije, ki so živeli in ustvarjali v mestu ali pa so s svojo prisotnostjo, umetniško, razstavno, organizacijsko dejavnostjo oziroma pedagoškim, oblikovalskim in restavratorskim delom prispevali k umetniški in kulturni rasti Nove Gorice ter njene okolice.
Kulturni dom Nova Gorica in Goriški muzej nadaljujeta velike skupne razstavne projekte, ki med seboj povezujejo različna prizorišča. Tokratna pregledna razstava je posvečena 70-letnici mesta Nova Gorica. Naslov »Na začetku je bila črta« smo si sposodili pri Vanji Merviču, ki je tako poimenoval svojo instalacijo (At the beginning was a straight line, act 2), navezujoč se na Churchilla in povojno zarisovanje meja z ravnilom. Tudi Nova Gorica je nastala zaradi zarisane črte, po drugi strani pa je črta tudi osnovni likovni element.
Pregledna razstava z izborom umetniških del prinaša vpogled v bogato ustvarjalnost, ki z raznoliko likovno govorico plemeniti Novo Gorico vse od njenih začetkov do danes. Dela ki so nastala od začetka Nove Gorice do okoli 1990 so na ogled na Gradu Kromberk, od 1990 do danes skupaj s pregledom javne plastike pa v Mestni galeriji Nova Gorica.
