At La Alamer's house, we follow with interest the stories that shape our common public space and keep in touch between the past, present and future. One of these is the pavilion on the grounds of the former Gorenjska fair in Kranj , designed by Marjan Shorli in 1951.
It is an exceptional example of a multifunctional public space , which has already been thoughtfully placed in the wider context of the city and its daily life. The pavilion, designed in the spirit of Mediterranean architecture with a flat roof, pergola and stone perimeter wall, was supplemented with a garden, a swimming pool and an elegant concrete arch bridge. The landscape design of the garden was designed by Ruska Ogorevc together with Marjan Shorli , where the Garden represented a continuation of the planting of the Preseren Grove and at the same time part of the wider arrangement of the surroundings of the primary school. The space thus also served as an outdoor classroom for a long time and made a significant contribution to the educational and social life of the community.
In 1966, the pavilion was taken over by the Horticultural Society Kranj, which later adapted the building to New needs, added a protective roof and partially redesigned the interior spaces. The society still operates in it today, thus preserving its liveliness and continuity of use.
At the time of its creation, the pavilion and Garden represented a quality example of a modern designed public space that has successfully adapted to changes and new functions over the decades. Today, just before the planned renovation, important questions arise: How to approach the existing architectural and landscape heritage, how to understand and integrate the intangible aspects of space, and how to ensure that the renovation is not just an intervention, but a continuation of its story.
These questions will be at the forefront of the guided tour of the pavilion, where curators of the exhibition, representatives of professional institutions, members of the Kranj Horticultural Society and other participants will talk about the space. Together, we will try to shed light on the potentials, dilemmas and responsibilities that come with thoughtful handling of heritage.

Paviljon, zasnovan v duhu mediteranske arhitekture z ravno streho, pergolo in kamnitim obodnim zidom, je bil dopolnjen z vrtom, bazenom in elegantnim betonskim ločnim mostom.
Ta vprašanja bodo v ospredju vodenega ogleda paviljona, kjer bodo o prostoru spregovorili kustosi razstave, predstavniki strokovnih institucij ter člani Hortikulturnega društva Kranj in drugi sodelujoči. Skupaj bomo skušali osvetliti potenciale, dileme in odgovornosti, ki jih prinaša premišljeno ravnanje z dediščino.
