The beginnings of the band Gorje date back to 1907, when it was officially founded. In the beginning it was part of a fire company, but later it split off and became an independent company. As the first band in Slovenia, it dressed in national costumes in 1969 and already at that time set the guidelines for the appearance of Slovenian bands. In 1986, she went on her first tour to France, in the city of Villefranche de Rourergue, and there, as a group from the then Eastern Bloc, impressed people to the point that they founded the Friends of Slovenia club, with whom they still exchange visits. Since then, she has regularly visited festivals in various cities in France, the last time they were held there in 2010 in the city of Port Ste. Marie. The band has also toured in other countries, but the most outstanding are the tours on the Caribbean island of Martini and Serbia, where in 2003 she performed at the dragachev trubac Sabor.
Gorje band has very diverse performances all year round – from winter performances at sporting events in Pokljuka and Planica, Easter concert in Bled, May Day vigil in Gorje, performances at bled days to final new year's concerts in Gorje and bled. Every few years it turns into a Mountain Band and goes to Triglav with instruments (also drum and tuba are not missing) and provides a pleasant atmosphere there. As of 2023, it is conducted by Prof. Marko the husband, who has been a member of it since his youth. They mostly perform a repertoire consisting of Avsenik waltzes and polkas, but they also venture into the waters of pop music from around the world.

Začetki Godbe Gorje segajo v leto 1907, ko je bila uradno ustanovljena. Na začetku je delovala v sklopu gasilskega društva, kasneje pa se je odcepila in postala samostojno društvo. Kot prva godba v Sloveniji se je leta 1969 oblekla v narodne noše in že takrat postavila smernice izgleda slovenskih godb. Leta 1986 je odšla na prvo turnejo v Francijo, v mesto Villefranche de Rourergue, in tam kot skupina iz tedanjega vzhodnega bloka navdušila ljudi do te mere, da so ustanovili Klub prijateljev Slovenije, s katerimi si še vedno izmenjujejo obiske. Od takrat je redno obiskovala festivale v različnih mestih v Franciji, zadnjič so bili tam leta 2010 v mestu Port Ste. Marie. Godba je gostovala tudi v drugih državah, najbolj pa izstopata gostovanji na karibskem otoku Martinique in v Srbiji, kjer je leta 2003 nastopila na Dragačevskem saboru trubača.
Godba Gorje ima zelo raznolike nastope vse leto – od zimskih nastopov na športnih prireditvah na Pokljuki in v Planici, velikonočnega koncerta na Bledu, prvomajske budnice v Gorjah, nastopov na blejskih dnevih do zaključnih novoletnih koncertov v Gorjah in na Bledu. Vsakih nekaj let se prelevi v planinsko godbo in se z inštrumenti (tudi boben in tuba ne manjkata) odpravi na Triglav in tam poskrbi za prijetno vzdušje. Od leta 2023 ji dirigira prof. Marko Možina, ki je njen član že od mladosti. Večinoma izvajajo repertoar, sestavljen iz Avsenikovih valčkov in polk, podajo pa se tudi v vode zabavne glasbe iz celega sveta.
