"Art is the search and definition of beauty. This is the essence of our being and existence.«
- Tomaz Pandur
You are invited to the opening of the exhibition Tomaz Pandur / finding and defining beauty, to the UGM Cabinet, which will take place on Sunday, 12. in April 2026, at 11. uri.
On the tenth anniversary of the death of theatre director Tomaz Pandur, the drama SNG Maribor and the Maribor Theatre Festival in cooperation with the Maribor Art Gallery will pay tribute to this unique theatre creator with a diverse programme.
The exhibition search and definition of beauty in the UGM Cabinet through theatre photography and other archival material presents six productions by Thomas Pandur from the period of his artistic direction of the drama of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor (1989-1996). The central place in the exhibition belongs to the black and white photographs of the photographer angel God, which are a convincing document of Pandur's creative vision, his immense passion for creating new worlds and only his own poetics, to which he was faithful until the end of his creative path.
The productions that Pandur put on the stage of the Maribor drama in seven years have pushed the boundaries of theatrical art, upset and also upset. Faust , Hamlet , Carmen , La divina commedia ( Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso), The Russian mission and Bab Alutlon are performances that undoubtedly marked the Maribor and Slovenian theater and put it on the world theater map. As a young director, Pandur demonstrated an unquestionable mastery of the extraordinary power of visual symbolic language, transforming classical texts into bold and suggestive stage worlds with innovative stage layouts that irresistibly attracted audiences around the world.
The exhibition will be held during the Maribor Theatre Festival (8.–21. June 2026) on display at SNG Maribor . The exhibition will be held at 61. Maribor Theatre Festival 2026 a round table was held, and a series of events in tribute to the prematurely deceased director will be complemented by the production of Immaculata , for which the text based on the novel marijin testament Colma t Modlib Modular was prepared by Tomaz Pandur and playwright Livija Pandur.

Ob deseti obletnici smrti gledališkega režiserja Tomaža Pandurja se bosta Drama SNG Maribor in Festival Borštnikovo srečanje v sodelovanju z Umetnostno galerijo Maribor z raznolikim programom poklonila temu edinstvenemu gledališkemu ustvarjalcu.
Razstava Iskanje in definiranje lepote v UGM Kabinetu skozi gledališko fotografijo in drugi arhivski material predstavlja šest uprizoritev Tomaža Pandurja iz obdobja njegovega umetniškega vodenja Drame Slovenskega narodnega gledališča Maribor (1989–1996).
Ob razstavi bo v okviru 61. Festivala Borštnikovo srečanje 2026 potekala okrogla miza, niz dogodkov v poklon prezgodaj preminulemu režiserju pa bo dopolnila uprizoritev Immaculata , za katero sta besedilo po romanu Marijin testament Colma Tóibína pripravila Tomaž Pandur in dramaturginja Livija Pandur.
