Nonument Group Field events Terenski dogodki Nonument Group

history culture lecture exhibition

Nonument Group, in cooperation with the Centre for creativity, invites you to field events that will take place in three locations: in the park of Vile Rafut near Nova Gorica , in the park of vile Bled in Bled and next to the Plecnik Stadium in Ljubljana .
Field events are a basis for reflection on innovative ways of recording and preserving heritage, a way to engage communities, and a starting point for artistic interventions that look back on abandoned, overlooked, forgotten, erased architectures and open up space for new perspectives on them.
We will dedicate two events to Villa Rafut. In the first, 2. at 19 O'clock in June , we will be guided by an introductory online lecture by architect and artist Mohamed Adel Dessouki, following the diverse state of the architecture of Lascak in Alexandria (from many ruined buildings to buildings in which informal construction is growing, and the building that now houses the Museum of royal jewelry). This reading will also be a starting point for understanding the complex state of erasure of architectural heritage in Alexandria in general. Dessouki is also a founding member of the initiative Save Ale format , which since 2012 has been advocating the protection of the rich architectural heritage in this city and draws attention to the alarming state of its erasure.
On Saturday, 4. at 17 o'clock in June , we will move to the park of Villa Rafut, in which the renovation begins. There, Milos Kosec will lead through the ruins of the villa and the garden and, in dialogue with Kaja wide and guests, ask about the domestic and foreign in space. The tour will be intertwined with the performance of the Society for the preservation of the cultural heritage of alexandrines , in which we will listen to songs and excerpts from the letters of women who, in the same period as Lascak, mainly as care workers (educators, wet nurses, governesses and maids) traveled to Alexandria for earnings.
Anton Lascak or Antonio Lasciac was a Gorizia architect of Slovenian descent . He built a dazzling career in the metropolises of colonial Egypt at the end of the nineteenth century. For his architectural merits, he received the noble title of bega from the Egyptian Viceroy Abbas II. In his old age, he wanted to settle down in the Oriental setting of Villa Rafut, which he built in his native Gorizia, but, according to a combination of circumstances, he died at the advanced age of ninety in Cairo.
Mohamed Adel Dessouki is an educator and visual artist. He received his B. A. in architecture from Alexandria University in 2000 and his M. A. from the Arab Academy of Science and technology in 2003 and his Ph. D. in architecture from Cairo University in 2012. He is currently an associate professor at the Department of Architecture at the Arab Academy of Science and technology. In her artistic practice, Dessouki V focuses on memory, architecture and the everyday. He writes a blog about the city of Alexandria, its endangered heritage and history for Gudran Medina Mot'aba (walls of the exhausted City). He lives and works in Alexandria, Egypt.

Vili Rafut bomo posvetili dva dogodka.
O mestu Aleksandrija, njeni ogroženi dediščini in zgodovini piše blog za Gudran Medina Mot’aba (Zidovi izčrpanega mesta). Živi in dela v Aleksandriji v Egiptu.
