Story
Meikata Tafiti is curious to explore the vast African savannah, although he is constantly warned against dangers. Meerkats can only be trusted with their own, says grandfather Opapa. But what if Tafiti meets a Red River pig named bristle, who is so much fun and friendly and in no way lets himself be driven away. After an unfortunate incident, grandfather OPAP is bitten by a poisonous snake. Only a rare blue flower, which is said to have healing powers, can save him. Tafiti is determined to find her. During a dangerous adventure, Tafiti and bristle become inseparable. They pass through the hot desert with heart, wit and a great deal of courage. And they show that sometimes the greatest courage lies in friendship.
About meerkats
Meerkats are very successful predators, but at the same time they themselves can be the prey of many larger animals. Their predatory nature is indicated by sharp teeth, an extended, sensitive nose, with which they smell roots, tubers and prey hidden underground well. They grow up to 30 cm, and their tail can be once again as long. They can reach speeds of up to 30 km per hour. They live in South Africa, mainly in savannas and deserts, where the surface is suitable for digging tunnels. Meerkats dwell in burrows. It is a real labyrinth of different rooms that have many entrances and exits. There are 20 to 50 animals in a pack. A few meerkats of the pack are always in an upright 'security' position, as they guard and watch for potential predators. In case of danger, they warn the remaining members with loud screams.

Zgodba
Surikata Tafiti radovedno raziskuje prostrano afriško savano, čeprav ga ves čas svarijo pred nevarnostmi. Surikate lahko zaupamo le svojim, pravi dedek Opapa. A kaj ko Tafiti sreča rdečega rečnega prašiča po imenu Ščetinko, ki je tako zelo zabaven in prijazen ter se nikakor ne pusti odgnati. Po nesrečnem pripetljaju dedka Opapa ugrizne strupena kača. Reši ga lahko le redka modra roža, ki naj bi imela zdravilne moči. Tafiti je odločen, da jo bo našel. Med nevarno pustolovščino Tafiti in Ščetinko postaneta neločljiva. Skozi vročo puščavo se odpravita s srčnostjo, duhovitostjo in veliko mero poguma. In pokažeta, da se včasih največji pogum skriva v prijateljstvu.
O surikatah
Surikate so zelo uspešni plenilci, a so hkrati tudi same lahko plen številnih večjih živali. Njihovo plenilsko naravo nakazujejo ostri zobje, podaljšan, občutljiv nos, s katerim dobro zavohajo koreninice, gomolje in plen, ki je skrit pod zemljo. Zrastejo do 30 cm, njihov rep pa je lahko dolg še enkrat toliko. Dosežejo lahko hitrost do 30 km na uro. Živijo v južni Afriki, predvsem v savanah in puščavah, kjer je površje primerno za kopanje rovov. Surikate prebivajo v rovih. Gre za pravi labirint različnih prostorov, ki imajo številne vhode in izhode. V krdelu je od 20 do 50 živali. Nekaj surikat iz krdela je vedno v pokončnem položaju ‘varnostnika’, saj stražijo in oprezajo za morebitnimi plenilci. V primeru nevarnosti opozorijo preostale člane z glasnimi kriki.

»Barvite afriške pokrajine s svojo prostranostjo in čarobnostjo ponujajo možnost, da nas navdušijo z jasnimi in preprostimi oblikami, hkrati pa ne izgubimo osredotočenosti na naše male junake med njihovim potovanjem. Ko sem nečakinjo prvič peljala v kino, stara je bila šest let, je začudeno rekla: »Tako veliko je vse!« Ta občutek osuplosti je pomemben. Zato se Tafiti kot filmska upodobitev razlikuje od knjig, vendar ostaja zvest svojemu bistvu in čaru.«
