Natasha Berk: Pelican cat
Pelikan photo House, Museum of Contemporary History Celje
In the Pelikan photo House, as part of the Museum of Contemporary History of Celje, an exhibition of Natasha Berk and her colleagues entitled Pelikan's cat will be presented . The participating artists will focus on the space itself, its history and significance. Through their own creative sieve, they will relate to the legacy of photographer Josip Pelikan and other Celje studio photographers in the pre - and post-war times. With this, they will analyze the visual codes of the time and compare them with the conventions of the visual culture of modern times.
Through spatial intervention, Natasha Berk and her colleagues question the phenomenology of the image in public circulation and the influence of the image on the perception of reality. In an ironic way, artists address the norms of individual appearances, the conventions of the advertising industry, the tendency of the mass media and everyday voyeurism, which today is inexorably associated with photography. The photographs, videos, objects and collages in the exhibition will originally turn to the past, but at the same time they will raise questions of understanding visual culture in the period when the public space is saturated with content and images.
The exhibition will be on display until 30. 8. 2020!
Nataša Berk: Pelikanova mačka
Fotohiša Pelikan, Muzej novejše zgodovine Celje
V Fotohiši Pelikan, v sklopu Muzeja novejše zgodovine Celje, bo predstavljena razstava Nataše Berk in njenih sodelavcev z naslovom Pelikanova mačka . Sodelujoči umetniki se bodo osredotočili na sam prostor, njegovo zgodovino in pomen. Skozi lastno ustvarjalno sito se bodo navezali na zapuščino fotografa Josipa Pelikana in ostalih celjskih studijskih fotografov v pred- in povojnem času. S tem bodo analizirali vizualne kode tistega časa in jih primerjali s konvencijami vizualne kulture sodobnega časa.
