In a world riddled with conflicting visual stimuli and marked by increasingly short attention span, visual artist and researcher Noura Tafeche invites us to reflect on which images really deserve our attention. It does this through the consideration of a single 3D Architectural Visualization from the large – scale visual production of the NEOM project-a planned smart city and a special economic zone in Tabuk province. This project represents a central element of Saudi's "Vision 2030" strategy and economic diversification program after a period of dependence on oil.
In the performative lecture Stratigraphy of the view , which will be premiered in the space Aksioma, Tafeche guides the audience through the stratigraphy of the selected image and, layer by layer, reveals what the image is trying to hide. Beneath her seductive, carefully crafted architectural image – often even constructively unlikely – lies a thoughtfully designed opacity that directs the gaze and creates consent, rather than describing reality.
V svetu, prežetem z nasprotujočimi si vizualnimi dražljaji in zaznamovanem z vse krajšo pozornostjo, nas vizualna umetnica in raziskovalka Noura Tafeche vabi k razmisleku o tem, katere podobe si zares zaslužijo našo pozornost. To stori skozi razmislek o eni sami 3D arhitekturni vizualizaciji iz obsežne vizualne produkcije projekta NEOM – načrtovanega pametnega mesta in posebne gospodarske cone v provinci Tabuk.
