Meeting of the Reading Club KIRA book Srečanje BRALNEGA KLUBA KIRA KNJIGA

culture

On the occasion of World Book Day, the Izola City Library invites you to the "meeting of the Kira book reading club". Glass walls are part of our lives, whether in the literal or figurative sense. If they are translucent enough, they allow the view through, otherwise they blur, some protect us from adverse weather, others limit or hinder the passage, depending on the quality and which side of the wall we ourselves are on. And what do we do with the window, notice it at all, deal with it, break it? This is just a fragment of the associations triggered by the title of the glass wall (Beletrina, 2024), another short-story collection by Ana Svetlovna, but at the same time it is a good summary of the questions that five longer stories raise in us. Whether it's a student who gets involved in a conflict with a professor, a sculptor in the grip of family tradition, an influential mother who is sucked into the virtual world by her profession, a young researcher who returns to her home, or an international group of friends from her student years who, after ten years, bring back common memories, each of them comes across somewhere, collides with an invisible obstacle that you don't want to face ... with what? And how will the collision survive?

Invited on Wednesday, 23. In April 2025, at 18.30 to the meeting of the Reading Club Kira book in the Izola City Library. The Reading Club is led by literary critic and translator DIANA PUNGERSIC.

The Reading Club is a reading culture project co-financed by the Slovenian book agency.

Participation in the Reading Club is free.

In kako bo trk preživel?

Vabljeni v SREDO, 23. APRILA 2025, ob 18.30 na srečanje bralnega kluba Kira knjiga v Mestni knjižnici Izola. Bralni klub vodi literarna kritičarka in prevajalka DIANA PUNGERŠIČ.
