In the continuation of the series about the former mayors of Maribor, we will talk about the first mayor in the history of Maribor, Vera Kolaric.
Vera Kolaric (1923-1991) was president of the Maribor City Council from 1963 to 1967, when she was elected president of the DPZ in the Slovenian Assembly.
It was marked by dramatic life experiences - family tragedy in childhood, exile to Serbia, rebellion against fascism, the first post-war years on Tanjug in Belgrade, work in the Maribor textile industry, modernization of Maribor, liberalization of Slovenian politics at the end of the Sixties …
Successful city projects and long-term changes in the development of our republic should remind us of her. The disease prematurely pulled her out of public action.
The special guest will be her daughter Breda Kolaric Lah, a retired senior judge.
The cycle of Remembrance is organised by the University Library Maribor, JSKD Maribor (public fund of the Republic of Slovenia for cultural activities, Regional Branch Maribor) and the Union of cultural societies (ZKD).

V nadaljevanju niza o nekdanjih mariborskih županih se bomo pogovarjali o prvi županji v zgodovini Maribora Veri Kolarič.
Vera Kolarič (1923–1991) je bila predsednica mestnega sveta Maribor od leta 1963 do 1967, ko je bila izvoljena za predsednico DPZ v slovenski Skupščini.
Zaznamovale so jo dramatične življenjske izkušnje – družinska tragedija v otroštvu, izgnanstvo v Srbijo, upor proti fašizmu, prva povojna leta na Tanjugu v Beogradu, delo v mariborski tekstilni industriji, modernizacija Maribora, liberalizacija slovenske politike konec šestdesetih …
Nanjo bi nas morali spominjati uspešni mestni projekti in dolgoročne spremembe v razvoju naše republike. Bolezen jo je prezgodaj odtegnila iz javnega delovanja.
Posebna gostja bo njena hči Breda Kolarič Lah, upokojena višja sodnica.
