architect Ivan Christmas

Ivan Christmas was born in 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. Albanians in England.
He was educated at the Birmingham School of Art and Design and then the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. For twenty years he was engaged in architecture, and then transferred his knowledge to the management of construction projects. By the end of his career, Ivan's work practice expanded to design and develop the design of major projects and urban renewal projects, supervise their construction and manage sales. Ivan retired in 2018.
Ivan is married to a Slovenian woman Eva, with whom they moved to Novokrachine in 2022 to be closer to the family and live in a house built by Eva's great-grandfather in 1910. The couple is currently renovating an old building that has become a labor of love and respect for its story due to its family history. Each generation has added something to the house, and Ivan and Eva hope that this will continue with the next generation.
Ivan began painting shortly after his retirement, as he had not painted since his student days. He finds the idea for a new painting in anything, but recently he has been encouraged to create it by weather conditions at different times of the day and adhoc relationships of simple building forms that are often found in this region.

Ivan Christmas se je rodil leta 1953 v St. Albansu v Angliji.
Izobraževal se je na Birmingham School of Art and Design, nato pa na Architectural Association School of Architecture v Londonu. Dvajset let se je ukvarjal z arhitekturo, nato pa je svoje znanje prenesel na vodenje gradbenih projektov. Do konca kariere se je Ivanova delovna praksa razširila na načrtovanje in razvoj projektiranja večjih projektov in projektov urbane obnove, nadzor nad njihovo gradnjo in upravljanje prodaje. Ivan se je leta 2018 upokojil.
Ivan je poročen s Slovenko Evo, s katero sta se leta 2022 preselila v Novokračine, da bi bila bližje družini in živela v hiši, ki jo je leta 1910 zgradil Evin praded. Par trenutno obnavlja staro stavbo, ki je zaradi družinske zgodovine postala delo ljubezni in spoštovanja do njene zgodbe. Vsaka generacija je hiši nekaj dodala in Ivan in Eva upata, da se bo to nadaljevalo tudi z naslednji generacijo.
Ivan se je s slikarstvom začel ukvarjati kmalu po upokojitvi, saj ni slikal že od študentskih dni. Idejo za novo sliko najde v čemur koli, v zadnjem času pa ga k ustvarjanju spodbujajo vremenske razmere ob različnih urah dneva in adhoc odnosi preprostih stavbnih oblik, ki jih pogosto najdemo v tej regiji.
