Story
Old Gunnar lives a quiet and simple life on a secluded farm in the Icelandic countryside. One day, however, he is visited by a man with a tie who informs him that he will have to leave his home due to the construction of the dam. Author's statement
"I have always been fascinated by genuine interpersonal ties, especially between people who are not related. I have already explored the topic in the short film Paperbo/. I love the magic of everyday life. I often observe the ballet of passers-by on the street and write down moments of connection and wonderful banalities between people in a notebook. Solitude is the story of the growing up of both protagonists: Ari, who is forced to mature very quickly due to the divorce of his parents, as well as Gunnar, who, after moving from his family farm, in a sense has to learn to live again.«

»Od nekdaj so me navduševale pristne medčloveške vezi, zlasti med ljudmi, ki niso v sorodu. Temo sem raziskovala že v kratkem filmu Paperboy. Rada imam čarobnost vsakdanjega življenja. Pogosto opazujem balet mimoidočih na ulici ter si v beležko zapisujem trenutke povezovanja in čudovitih banalnosti med ljudmi. Samota je zgodba o odraščanju obeh protagonistov: Arija, ki je zaradi ločitve staršev prisiljen zelo hitro dozoreti, pa tudi Gunnarja, ki se mora po selitvi z družinske kmetije v nekem smislu znova naučiti živeti.«
