The basement showroom will feature an exhibition by British artist Mark Lecke Smith, A Turner Prize recipient, whose works have been presented at World institutions of contemporary art, including Tate Britain, MoMA PS1, Serpentine Galler Illinois and the Hammer Museum.
The essay-archive video collage by Mark Lecke / the article offers an enigmatic archaeology of the self, an era and British culture, taken in 23 minutes. The film Dream English Kid is a diachronic eclipse of sound, image and sensibility, originating in the treasury of pop culture on the internet; it begins with the year of the artist's birth (performances by the Jo / Division and The Beatles are included), and marks Time to Totalit / it with collective visions that culminate with the turn of the Millennium. The dynamics of work create the feeling that time is collapsing into itself, questioning the permanence of the self and memory through one's own culture and through the development of media from radio, television and film to the internet. The work, which is both very personal and generic, is the artist's creative genealogy, condensed into a map – if only we can read it. Dream English Kid serves as a symbolic entry point into Lecke's work and explores the power of images and the vitality of objects in an unrecognizable universe.

V kletnem razstavnem prostoru bo na ogled razstava britanskega umetnika Marka Leckeyja, prejemnika Turnerjeve nagrade, čigar dela so bila predstavljena v svetovnih institucijah sodobne umetnosti, med drugim v Tate Britain, MoMA PS1, Serpentine Gallery in Hammer Museum.
Esejistično-arhivski video kolaž Marka Leckeyja ponuja zagonetno arheologijo jaza, neke dobe in britanske kulture, sežeto v 23 minutah. Film Dream English Kid je diahroni mrk zvoka, podobe in občutljivosti, ki izvira iz zakladnice pop kulture na internetu; začenja se z letom umetnikovega rojstva (vključeni so nastopi skupine Joy Division in Beatlov), Time To Totality pa označuje s kolektivnimi vizijami, ki dosežejo vrhunec s prelomom tisočletja. Dinamika dela ustvarja občutek, kot da se čas seseda sam vase, ter prevprašuje trajnost jaza in spomina skozi lastno kulturo ter skozi razvoj medijev od radia, televizije in filma do interneta. Delo, ki je hkrati zelo osebno in obenem generično, je umetnikova kreativna genealogija, zgoščena v zemljevid – če ga le znamo brati. Dream English Kid služi kot simbolična vstopna točka v Leckeyjevo delo ter raziskuje moč podob in vitalnost predmetov v neprepoznavnem vesolju.
