Oscar 6ilde-an extremely educated, witty and notorious London dandy who loudly swore at Decadence, a goat who wracked the folly of Victorian society with irony and was also an extremely desirable guest in all London salons – during his lifetime he suffered a crash from a constellation of international fame into a ravine of public disgrace, then into a prison with forced labor, and finally, when he was already sickly and mentally broken, into conducted oblivion. All this just because he was homosexual. Victorian Society mercilessly deleted all other forms of love in the name of decency, honored the patriarchal family, and imposed sexual abstinence and shyness primarily on women. That is why Herodias ' daughter Saloma is the most rebellious, wayward and unpredictable of all the heroines of Animild.
Saloma runs away from the gala table at which her stepfather Herod Antipas hosts the greats to avoid his lustful glances. Outside, by the old well in which the Prophet Johanaan (John the Baptist) is imprisoned, she meets the servant Naraboth, who is secretly in love with her. It is he who fulfills Salomi's desire to meet the mysterious prisoner. When Saloma sees the prophet who tirelessly calls on God's wrath and anger against dissolute sinners, he so overwhelms her that she falls in love with him and wants to kiss him. Johanan rejects her in disgust and retreats back to the well.
Meanwhile, Herod misses his beautiful stepdaughter in the palace and, despite the swearing grumbling of his new spouse Herodias, goes after her. The feast moves from inside under the night sky, where Herod sees and hears the very bad omens at the loud scolding of the Prophet, which does not deter him from asking Salome to dance his famous dance of the seven veils, and promises her whatever she wants as a reward. After the dance, Saloma demands the head of the prophet, and with this desire, from the intersection of Eros and Thanatos, it collides with the social order and, accordingly, with the structure of the world.
The work will be directed by the Serbian director Milos Loli, who, after studying in Belgrade, quickly became recognizable in the South Slavic theater region as well as in the German-speaking space. Loli is known for his contemporary, highly interpretive approaches to dramatic texts, in which he analyzes and shows in detail the hidden disintegration of the ideological substation of the structure of our existence. For his work, he received a number of international awards – from Borstnikova to the Austrian national prize nestro entertainment and The Dorothea Neff prize.
