Once upon a rhythm, a curious rooster left the comfort of dawn. It took off one morning, following sounds instead of sunrise. Drawn by the pulse of distant grooves, it set off on a journey beyond the farmyard, chasing echoes across deserts, cities, and seas. Everywhere it went, it found kindred spirits – dreamers, drummers, selectors, and sound sculptors, each with their own story carved in frequency and time.
From its home nest in Maribor, we return to the basement for the opening chapter – together with friends and remarkable sound crafters to set the tone on March 14th at K4.

Nikolaj, the key player who after elementary school swapped textbooks for vinyls. His collection and love for music only kept growing from year to year. What started in downtempo and trip-hop gradually moved into house and techno. His sound is vibrant, but with a mysterious edge under the wizard’s hands, consisting of crème de la crème tracks, picked carefully and mixed with surgical precision. Join us on a rollercoaster ride through Nikolandija as he opens the night in the pool – a journey worth catching from the first drop.

His sets draw the body into a steady pulse while opening space for the mind to wander and drift beyond the noise.

Guiding this journey is Joan Hong – a Korean descendant born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Argentina. A DJ and producer shaped by movement and sound, she began her musical journey as a self-taught acoustic guitarist at the age of 15. Her work transcends genre and borders, exploring music as a medium of emotion, transformation, and collective experience. For Joan, sound is a shared space where traditions collide and evolve into something new.
Born out of friendship, Em & Juls began their journey with ambient and downtempo selections. What started as intimate sessions for themselves slowly grew into sharing music with friends and a wider circle. Now it marks a new beginning and they’re excited to play in K4 for the first time, bringing their ambient and downtempo sound into a deeper and driving space.
