As part of the commemoration of the eightieth anniversary of the most massive deportations of Slovenian women and Slovenes to the German concentration camp Ausch Modulitz, the museum is opening a visiting exhibition of the center of Jewish cultural heritage synagogue Maribor.
The documentary exhibition tells the story of 2,300 people from Slovenia, who were taken to Ausch 60itz. The majority were Slovenes, but some 350 Jews, at least 78 Roma, and at least one member of Jehovah's witnesses were among the deported. Only about 1,000 of them returned home, and for most of the rest, Ausch Modelitz was the place of death.
As a result, the Ausch Modititz is one of the largest cemeteries of Slovenian victims of World War II.
The exhibition will be on display in the museum premises until 25. 9. 2022.
V okviru obeleževanja osemdesete obletnice najbolj množičnih deportacij Slovenk in Slovencev v nemško koncentracijsko taborišče Auschwitz, odpiramo v muzeju gostujočo razstavo Centra judovske kulturne dediščine Sinagoga Maribor.
Dokumentarna razstava pripoveduje o 2.300 ljudeh iz Slovenije, ki so jih odpeljali v Auschwitz. Večina je bila Slovencev, med deportiranimi pa je bilo tudi okoli 350 Judov, vsaj 78 Romov in vsaj en pripadnik Jehovovih prič. Domov se jih je vrnilo le okoli 1.000, za večino preostalih pa je bil Auschwitz kraj smrti.
Zato je Auschwitz eno največjih pokopališč slovenskih žrtev druge svetovne vojne.
Razstava bo v prostorih muzeja na ogled do 25. 9. 2022.
