Memorial event at 80. the anniversary of the crash of A B-24 Liberator bomber under krn in January 1945 and the rescue of the surviving crew. The event will start at 18. the uri is organized on the initiative and in cooperation with the relatives of one of the surviving crew members, relatives of Bill Pett. You can read more about him in Zdravko Likar's entry in the book Damn Wars (I send as an attachment). Bill Pett Smith also wrote his story in the book Missing in Action seven / T / T / Da / behind Enem / lines 1945 , which was published in 1990 in the English language. Matija Zhajnar also wrote about this and other similar events that took place during the Second World War in the book Broken Wings.
At the event, we will open an exhibition entitled "Rescue in the Soca Valley", which describes the events of 1945 and, what is especially interesting, the reunions of crew members with those who were rescued after the crash. The exhibition is full of personal stories and testimonies.
The event will be held in Slovenian and English with translation, as quite a few relatives of crew members from the USA will be present at the event.
Spominski dogodek ob 80. obletnici strmoglavljenja bombnika B-24 Liberator pod Krnom januarja 1945 in reševanja preživele posadke. Dogodek, ki se bo pričel ob 18. uri je organiziran na pobudo in v sodelovanju s svojci enega od preživelih članov posadke, sorodniki Billa Pett-ja. Bill Petty je svojo zgodbo zapisal tudi v knjigi Missing in Action Seventy-Two Days Behind Enemy Lines 1945 , ki je izšla leta 1990 v angleškem jeziku. O tem in drugih podobnih dogodkih, ki so se zgodili med drugo svetovno vojno je pisal tudi Matija Žgajnar v knjigi Zlomljena krila.
Na dogodku bomo otvorili razstavo z naslovom » Reševanje v dolini Soče «, ki opisuje dogajanje leta 1945 in kar je še posebej zanimivo, ponovna srečanja članov posadke s tistimi, ki so jih po strmoglavljenju rešili. Razstava je polna osebnih zgodb in pričevanj.
Dogodek bo potekal v slovenščini in angleščini s prevajanjem, saj bo na dogodku prisotnih kar nekaj svojcev članov posadke iz ZDA.
