culture exhibition

In 2021, it marks 60 years since the start of the Forma viva International Symposium of sculptors. On the occasion of the anniversary, the Bozidar Jakac Gallery prepared a documentary exhibition Re / Forma viva, which focuses on photographic materials and stories from the rich documentation of the work site in Kostanjevica na Krki. The International Symposium of sculptors Forma viva has officially started on the 4th. in July 1961 in Kostanjevica na Krki and in Sezha near Portoroz. Symposium, which was conceptualized by Slovenian sculptors Janez Lenassi and Jakob Savinsek, following the example of the symposium in St. Petersburg. Margarethen in Burgenland is considered the oldest still functioning Sculpture Symposium in the world and still works biennially in Kostanjevica na Krki and Sezha near Portoroz.

The documentary exhibition Re / Forma viva is based on the rich documentary material held by GBJ, comprising four running meters of material and covering the first three decades of the symposium in Kostanjevica na Krki. In preparation for the exhibition, the material was chronologically edited and inventoried for the purpose of comprehensive digitization.

During the sixty years of the symposium's existence, Kostanjevica na Krki hosted 133 sculptors and this is the official number of monumental Oak sculptures, and this July two new ones will be created at the symposium. There are currently 79 sculptures in the Forma Viva Sculpture Park, 14 in Kostanjevica na Krki, one in the Terme Catez Park and one and one at Ratezh pri Novo Mesto. Since 1999, the Forma Viva Sculpture Park has the status of a monument of national importance and is inextricably embedded in the surroundings of the building of the former monastery and an important element of the protected cultural landscape.

In 2019, GBJ, in cooperation with the University of Ljubljana, the University of Zagreb and Eesti Kunstiakadeemia of Tallinn, launched the Re/Forma Viva project within the Erasmus+ Programme, a strategic partnership in the field of Higher Education. As part of the project, students and professors, with the help of 3D technologies, are developing a systematic approach to documenting the condition of wooden sculptures that are kept in the natural environment. The re/Forma Viva exhibition will also feature material produced by NTF and ALUO students in Ljubljana.

V okviru projekta študenti in profesorji, ob pomoči 3D tehnologij, razvijajo sistematičen pristop k dokumentiranju stanja lesenih skulptur, ki so hranjene v naravnem okolju.
