Journey to Reims a dazzling jewel from the stunning treasury of one of the greatest opera Masters. This humorous masterpiece has smoldered in oblivion for more than 150 years! It was reconstructed again and performed only in 1994 in Pesaro, under the tutelage of the legendary Claudio Abbado.
Today, many opera connoisseurs consider it one of Rossini's most important and entertaining operas. She captivated audiences around the world with her musical luxury and stage vivacity; her impression is enhanced by as many as 18 solo roles , including 9 main ones , which is a real rarity in the opera repertoire.
The story takes us to the Golden Lily bathhouse , where a colorful group of aristocrats and military officers from all over Europe gather under one roof. The company heads to Reims for the coronation of King Charles of France , but they remain trapped in the spa, as there are no horses anywhere – creating the perfect starting point for a web of love entanglements, imaginative adventures and comical misunderstandings ... in this witty romantic and political melodrama.
