Heidi is an orphan and lives with her aunt Dete after the death of her parents. When her aunt is offered a well-paid job in the city, she takes Heidi to the mysterious grandfather on a mountain. She and Heidi quickly become attached, her grandfather teaches her life with nature, she also befriends her neighbor's boy Peter. Then her aunt returns unannounced and takes Heidi to town for the bridesmaid, sickly Clara, who, tied to a stroller, lives under the watchful eye of a strict nanny. Free-spirited and rebellious Heidi helps her finally start living.
Heidi is a story about freedom and relaxation that can only be felt in nature, a story about rebellion, perseverance and courage, which are the drivers of life's changes, as well as a story about the power of love and about different principles of upbringing.

Heidi je sirota in po smrti staršev živi s teto Dete. Ko se teti ponudi dobro plačana služba v mestu, odpelje Heidi k skrivnostnemu dedku na Planino. S Heidi se hitro navežeta, dedek jo uči življenja z naravo, spoprijatelji se tudi s sosedovim dečkom Petrom. Nato pa se nenapovedano vrne teta in Heidi odpelje v mesto za družico bolehni Klari, ki privezana na voziček živi pod budnim očesom stroge varuške. Svobodomiselna in uporniška Heidi ji pomaga, da končno začne živeti.
Heidi je zgodba o svobodi in sproščenosti, ki jo lahko občutimo le v naravi, zgodba o uporništvu, vztrajnosti in pogumu, ki so gonilo življenjskih sprememb, pa tudi zgodba o moči ljubezni in o različnih principih vzgoje.
