PersonaE is a new research and experimental opera project that tests new forms of musical theatre and expands the boundaries of the perception of what opera can be. The starting artifact of the project is an ancient theatrical mask with the Latin name" persona "or" per/sonare", that is, a mask through which the voice of the actor echoes. The theatrical symbol is intertwined with the conception of the "persona" by the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961) as a social face or mask with which an individual wants to give the world a certain impression of himself, while at the same time masking his true nature. In human interaction, communication and interpretation play an important role. The spoken word becomes the heard word, which in the personal perception of the listener departs unknown where from the original meaning of the speaker's thoughts. A space of open forms of expression and understanding arises. French philosopher Roland Barthes (1915-1980), in his essay the death of the author, says that more than the writer's intention, the reader's role in interpreting the text or language is important. Each reader or viewer, therefore, is the one who gives meaning to a work. PersonaE reflects the problems of today's social interactions and eternal attempts at human understanding. The viewer is invited to their own reading and interpretation of this open work, which will thus become an Echo or reflection of each individual: there will be as many visions of the performance as there will be active spectators in the audience.
PersonaE is an author project of the Slovenian director and music and theatre experimenter Rocco, who invited the well-established Czech composer and sound designer to The Musical co-creation in Animtta Zouhar, as well as the local musician and singer Sara Brski Cirman or Raiven. The project is being created in cooperation with the Slovenian Chamber Music Theatre.
