Exhibition and conversation
Monday, 17. december 2018, at 19. uri
Project Room SCCA, Metelkova 6, Ljubljana
Neza Knez uses various media for his artistic expression, such as audio, video, photography, drawing, classical materials, performance. For a long time, however, he has been developing a project with nursing homes in which he asks about love with residents.
There will be 17 in the SCCA Project Room. in December, at the" exhibition in the making " and in conversation with Anja Guid, she presented the intermediate phase of the artistic research or project in the process.
In the process (working title)
2018 - (in the making), audio, book, wooden object (table)
Work that is not work. And the question is, if ever there will be work. And at the same time there is work. Work in the making.
The work is constructed in real time, it is defined by processuality, and it is the latter that provides this process of construction and changes with diverse dimensions and imaginations. It testifies to people's view of the abstract concept of Love, which is only a transmitter of what is said (definition), and the finality itself remains intangible, because everyone loves differently. A thorough analysis and study of the concept of love can also transform the perception of reality and at the same time build a strong body awareness. The intensity of the sensory forces us to rethink and confirms the thesis that engaging in art is primarily the education of the senses.
At the exhibition in the process there will be a wooden table, an album, printed statements of people and a sound installation that will remind of the conversation between the actors. Only the beginning of a longer research will be shown, which the author approaches through conversations, performances and excursions with older people. The two-month collaboration produced a variety of material through the process.
The question of what to show and how is currently at the forefront, as the author will work with people for at least another seven months.
How to make a meaningful narrative from documentation that is not yet work, so that it does not remain solely and only with the form of the document, is a key question, because something more than the documentary or from the transferred takes time and building on trust.
Throughout the conversation, we will talk about a process that over time acquires some clearer, more articulated form. How can the process depend on the participants, to what extent it is necessary to interfere with randomness, how to gain the trust of people, how to actively involve them and how to critically question what they have from this project, and ultimately how to manipulate the material obtained ...?
Neza Knez graduated and received her master's degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and design (ALUO) in Ljubljana. She is the winner of some of the most prominent awards: the award (2012) and the award (2014) for outstanding academic achievements at the Aluo in Ljubljana, the award for an innovative approach to artistic graphics "Golden press" (2015), the Presern award (University of Ljubljana) for outstanding academic achievements (2015), and for her master's thesis she received the highest award with the distinction Summa Cum Laude (2017). In 2017, she participated in the Biennale of youth in Tirana. In 2018, she received an Oho group award and was on a two-month artist residency at the premises of residence Music Unlimited in NE Animatork.

Razstava in pogovor
Ponedeljek, 17. december 2018, ob 19. uri
Projektna soba SCCA, Metelkova 6, Ljubljana
V Projektni sobi SCCA bo 17. decembra na »razstavi v nastajanju« in v pogovoru z Anjo Guid predstavila vmesno fazo umetniške raziskave oz. projekta v procesu.
V procesu (delovni naslov)
2018 – (v nastajanju), avdio, knjiga, leseni objekt (miza)
Delo, ki (še) ni delo. In vprašanje, če sploh kdaj bo delo. In obenem je delo. Delo v nastajanju.
