The Ptuj city statute from 1376 represents an important legal monument, which in its time significantly exceeded the city limits and is considered an extremely rare document of this kind. This substantial manuscript on 52 parchment leaves, written in Middle High German and gothic script, is kept by the library of Duke Augustus in the German-based 67th year, where he wandered in the middle of the 17th century. century. The statute, which regulates the functioning of the city in 195 articles, mirrors the complex relationship between the power embodied by the Archbishop of Salzburg, the city officials and the townspeople who aspired to an orderly life within the city walls.
Today, a statute that has been the subject of scientific research since the last quarter of the 19th century. for centuries, it remains an invaluable resource for understanding the Urban Development and legal order of our almost oldest city. Marija Hernja Masten, Boris Hajdinjak, mag will talk about him and Ptuj in that period. Lilijana Urlep, Dr. Branko Vnuk and dr. Dejan Zadravec.
The exhibition will be on display at the Magistrat Gallery until the end of April 2026, from 15. in May, on the premises of the historical archive in Ptuj.
O njem in Ptuju v tistem obdobju bodo na okrogli mizi spregovorili Marija Hernja Masten, Boris Hajdinjak, mag. Lilijana Urlep, dr. Branko Vnuk in dr. Dejan Zadravec.
