The story is set in the time of World War II, in a small remote village on the border between Serbia, Montenegro and Albania. An Orthodox child who lost his parents in the attack of a paramilitary fascist unit finds refuge in the House of a complete stranger - a man with whom he has neither language, religion, nor blood in common, the Albanian Nura Doka. Nur faces a difficult moral dilemma: whether to hand over the child to the persecutors, thereby breaking the centuries-old code of his house, or to risk the lives of all his family members in order to protect the unknown child and save his face.

Zgodba je postavljena v čas druge svetovne vojne, v majhno odročno vas na meji med Srbijo, Črno goro in Albanijo. Pravoslavni otrok, ki je v napadu paravojaške fašistične enote izgubil starše, najde zatočišče v hiši popolnega neznanca - moškega, s katerim nima skupnega ne jezika, vere ali krvi, Albanca Nura Doke. Nur se sooča s težko moralno dilemo: ali naj otroka izroči preganjalcem in s tem prekrši stoletni kodeks svoje hiše, ali naj tvega življenje vseh svojih družinskih članov, da bi zaščitil neznanega otroka in si rešil obraz.
