Press conference
Maribor Art Gallery, Strossma 6
Tuesday, 14. april 2026, 12: 00
We invite you to a press conference on the launch of the school in culture project – regional centers of cultural and art education. In November 2025, the National Project regional centers of cultural and artistic education was launched, which connects five partners in five Slovenian regions. Over the next four years, the centres will connect cultural organisations, schools, local communities and other stakeholders in order to strengthen cultural and artistic education.
Regional centers of cultural and art education operate in five regions:
Ljubljana / central Slovenia region: Bunker
Maribor / Podravska region: Maribor Art Gallery
Celje / Savinja region: Regional Museum Celje
Novo mesto / Southeast Slovenia: Zavod Novo mesto
Koper / coastal-Karst region: Library Koper
The key result of the project will be the three-day school in culture programmes aimed at pupils , pupils and students. The programs will be completely free, including meals, and will combine the experience of art, learning about art, and learning with art.
The aim of the project is to establish sustainable cooperation between partners and to establish cultural and artistic education as a regular part of the school system. By 2029, the programs are expected to become a permanent practice in primary and secondary schools and part of the wider public consciousness.
In Maribor, the first school in culture will be held between 16. and 18. April 2026. During this time, students from the VRANSKO primary school will explore different parts of the city – the camp, the city center and the city park – and learn about its rich cultural offer. They will visit important cultural institutions such as the Maribor Art Gallery, The Maribor Puppet Theatre and the Regional Museum Maribor, where we are preparing an experiential acquaintance with art for them. The Program will be enriched with a variety of workshops: they will take part in a DJ workshop prepared by Alpha Alterveve and in Digilab under the guidance of Mars mentors. The event will end with a workshop on well-being with art, designed by IZIS and Kud Kud KADKADA in cooperation with the Maribor Art Gallery.
The project is co-financed by the European Union and the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
Šola v kulturi – Regijski centri kulturno-umetnostne vzgoje
Novinarska konferenca
Umetnostna galerija Maribor, Strossmayerjeva ulica 6
torek, 14. april 2026, 12.00
Regijski centri kulturno-umetnostne vzgoje delujejo v petih regijah:

Maribor / Podravska regija: Umetnostna galerija Maribor
Celje / Savinjska regija: Pokrajinski muzej Celje
Novo mesto / Jugovzhodna Slovenija: Zavod Novo mesto
