NANDE VIDMAR (1899-1981) was a painter and printmaker who studied painting at the Zagreb academy of Fine Arts in the period 1923-1924. Together with his brother Drago Vidmar, he established himself mainly in the circle of artists of Expressionism and then of the new reality, while also working as a traditional landscaper, genre painter and partisan artist. In 50. and 60. years 20. at the beginning of the XIX century, he began to create in the spirit of color realism and motive intimism. In 70. he retired completely from public life for years and did not exhibit until his death, while creating under the influence of abstract art. The most recent works are thematically about the violence of the Second World War and are indirectly the author's criticism of the then social conditions and the hegemony of cultural elites. The permanent exhibition of Nandet Vidmar has been on display since 2022. It was made possible thanks to a donation from the artist's son Misha Vidmar, which made it possible to record 1800 drawings and 200 paintings, which were already presented at the retrospective exhibition in 2019.
NANDE VIDMAR (1899-1981) je bil slikar in grafik, ki je v obdobju 1923-1924 študiral slikarstvo na zagrebški likovni akademiji. Skupaj s svojim bratom Dragom Vidmarjem se je uveljavil predvsem v krogu umetnikov ekspresionizma in nato nove stvarnosti, hkrati pa je deloval tudi kot tradicionalni krajinar, žanrski slikar in partizanski umetnik. V 50. in 60. letih 20. stoletja je začel ustvarjati v duhu barvnega realizma in motivnega intimizma. V 70. letih se je popolnoma umaknil iz javnega življenja in do smrti ni razstavljal, medtem ko je ustvarjal pod vplivom abstraktne umetnosti. Najpoznejša dela svojstveno tematizirajo nasilje druge svetovne vojne in so posredno avtorjeva kritika takratnih družbenih razmer ter hegemonije kulturnih elit. Stalna razstava Nandeta Vidmarja je na ogled od leta 2022. Omogočena je bila zavoljo donacije s strani umetnikovega sina Miša Vidmarja, ki je omogočil evidentiranje 1800 risb in 200 slik, ki so bile predstavljene že na retrospektivni razstavi leta 2019.
