Dario Fo is considered one of the most important comediographers of the 20. century. He embarked on a theatrical journey together with his wife, Franca, a descendant of the centuries-old traveling theater family Rame. The comedy accidental death of an anarchist is based on real events from 1969, related to the bombing in a bank in Milan and to the death of the Milan railway worker Giuseppe Pinelli, who, accused of anarchism, "fell" out of the window of a police station during interrogation. These two events marked the transition from a politically "hot autumn" shaped by strikes and the rise of the left to the so-called Lead years of tension and an attempted coup by the right led by Mussolini's fascists.
An old acquaintance of the police, a mental patient, a lunatic who likes to pretend to be someone else, sits in the interrogation room and makes a living that way. The interrogation soon turns upside down as he begins impersonating an investigator judge who is sent by the Supreme Court to review an investigation into the death of a defenestrated anarchist. With the abundance of comic anarchy, many irregularities, violations of laws and official procedures committed by the police during the interrogation of the deceased anarchist are revealed.
The production is dedicated to the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Dario Fo.
Dario Fo velja za enega najpomembnejših komediografov 20. stoletja. Na gledališko pot se je podal skupaj s svojo soprogo Franco, potomko stoletja stare potujoče gledališke družine Rame. Komedija Naključna smrt nekega anarhista temelji na resničnih dogodkih iz leta 1969, povezanih z bombnim napadom v milanski banki in s smrtjo milanskega železničarja Giuseppeja Pinellija, ki je, obtožen anarhističnega delovanja, med zaslišanjem »padel« skozi okno policijske postaje. Ta dva dogodka sta zaznamovala prehod iz politično »vroče jeseni«, ki so jo oblikovali stavke in vzpon levice, v t. i. svinčena leta napetosti ter poskusa državnega udara desnice pod vodstvom Mussolinijevih fašistov.
V sobi za zaslišanje sedi stari znanec policije, duševni bolnik, Norec, ki se rad pretvarja, da je nekdo drug, in se tako tudi preživlja. Zasliševanje se kmalu obrne na glavo, saj se začne izdajati za sodnika preiskovalca, ki ga vrhovno sodišče pošilja na revizijo preiskave o smrti defenestriranega anarhista. Ob obilici komične anarhije se razkrijejo številne nepravilnosti, kršitve zakonov in uradnih postopkov, ki jih je policija zagrešila med zaslišanjem pokojnega anarhista.
