Daniel (Martin Loeb) is a teenage boy who lives with his grandmother. After his first year of high school, he has to move in with his mother in the south of France. Mom is a seamstress and lives in a small apartment with her lover Jose, a Spanish farm worker. Daniel would like to continue his education, but his mother cannot afford it, so she sends him to work. As an apprentice in a motorcycle repair shop, Daniel wanders with his thoughts and focuses more and more on the girls he learns about from other boys in town.
