An excellent translation is more than just transferring words, sentences and sentences from one language to another. Translators are the bridge that allows readers through their work to explore and encounter stories and cultures that would otherwise remain inaccessible to them. What do translators pay attention to when translating fiction texts? How do they deal with language problems and untranslatable concepts and words? What role does localization play in the translation of literature? How do translators respond to the rise of artificial intelligence and machine translation?
Literary and comic critic Eva Ule will discuss the meaning of the translation and the work of the translator with two promising translators of the younger generation, Mojca Petaros and Tajda Liplin Sherbetar.
Mojca Petaros (1998) is a doctoral student in translation and a young researcher at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. He is also involved in the translation of literature and the writing of author's prose. As a publicist, she regularly collaborates with the Primorsky daily and weekly Novi glas. Last year, she received the Radojka Vrancic award for her translation of the novel by the corrupt Argentine author Camila Sosa Villada (youth book, 2024), and recently published her first short-length collection I don't want to be invisible anymore (Sadika, 2025).
Tajda Liplin Sherbetar (1996) is a translator, proofreader and critic. She translates for the youth book and the magazine Stripburger, and publishes literary reviews mainly in the magazines Literatura and Stripburger and on the portal Koridor – crossroads of Arts, where she also works as a regular proofreader.
The event is part of the young literature in the city cycle , which is dedicated to renowned young artists and creators from various fields of literature.

Prevajalci so tisti most, ki bralkam in bralcem s svojim delom omogočajo raziskovanje in srečevanje z zgodbami in kulturami, ki bi jim sicer ostale nedostopne. Na kaj vse so prevajalci pozorni pri prevajanju leposlovnih besedil? Kako se spopadajo z jezikovnimi zagatami ter neprevedljivimi pojmi in besedami? Kakšno vlogo ima pri prevajanju literature lokalizacija? Kako se prevajalci odzivajo na porast umetne inteligence in strojnega prevajanja?
Literarna in stripovska kritičarka Eva Ule se bo o pomenu prevoda in delu prevajalca pogovarjala z dvema perspektivnima prevajalkama mlajše generacije, Mojco Petaros in Tajdo Liplin Šerbetar.
Mojca Petaros (1998) je doktorska študentka prevodoslovja in mlada raziskovalka na Filozofski fakulteti v Ljubljani. Ukvarja se tudi s prevajanjem književnosti in pisanjem avtorske proze. Kot publicistka redno sodeluje s Primorskim dnevnikom in tednikom Novi glas. Lani je prejela nagrado Radojke Vrančič za prevod romana Pokvarjenke argentinske avtorice Camile Sosa Villada (Mladinska knjiga, 2024), pred kratkim pa je izdala svojo prvo kratkoprozno zbirko Nočem več biti nevidna (Mladika, 2025).
Tajda Liplin Šerbetar (1996) je prevajalka, lektorica in kritičarka. Prevaja za Mladinsko knjigo in revijo Stripburger, literarne kritike pa objavlja predvsem v revijah Literatura in Stripburger ter na portalu Koridor – križišča umetnosti, na katerem deluje tudi kot redna lektorica.
