Literary evening with the first guest of honour of the festival, the Serbian writer Vladimir Arsenijevi FC, who will present to the Slovenian audience his translated novel Ghosts (Beletrina, 2025).
The conversation with the author will be conducted by Ajdin Huzejrovi / / and will be translated into Slovenian.
In the novel Ghosts, the fourth and concluding part of The Tetralogy of Cloaca Ma'actim, Arsenijevi'ac explores the personal and social traumas of contemporary Serbia. The sixty – year – old narrator, a member of the "lost generation", after the death of his mother, finds himself in a whirlpool of memories of close people-relatives, friends and acquaintances-who have departed from his life in various ways and are now just "ghosts". In a series of retrospective views on them, he reflects on the recent past, the last war, unbridled nationalism, political repression, collective memory and moral responsibility, and again and again on personal and national identity.
Vladimir Arsenievi is a writer, translator, editor and publicist. For his first novel in podpalubje, he won the NIN Prize in 1994, becoming the youngest author in the history of its award and at the same time the first to be awarded for a literary debut. This cult novel, translated into more than 20 languages, was followed by the novels you and I , an Amitela , towards the border and The Ghosts , with whom he concluded The Tetralogy of Cloaca Ma Amitima in 2023, as well as The Book of short stories Minuta. (Journey around the world in 60 seconds) , diary prose Mexico – War Diary , Essay book Jugolaboratory, etc.Arsenijevi is also a columnist and commentator on political and social events and co-founder of the Association Krokodil, one of the Central non-governmental organizations in Serbia. Literarni večer s prvim častnim gostom festivala, srbskim pisateljem Vladimirjem Arsenijevićem , ki bo slovenski publiki predstavil svoj v slovenščino prevedeni roman Duhovi (Beletrina, 2025).
Pogovor z avtorjem bo vodil Ajdin Huzejrović in bo sproti prevajan v slovenščino.
V romanu Duhovi , četrtem in sklepnem delu tetralogije Cloaca Maxima, Arsenijević raziskuje osebne in družbene travme sodobne Srbije. Šestdesetletni pripovedovalec, pripadnik »izgubljene generacije«, se po materini smrti znajde v vrtincu spominov na bližnje – sorodnike, prijatelje in znance –, ki so na različne načine odšli iz njegovega življenja in so zdaj le še »duhovi«. V vrsti retrospektivnih pogledov nanje razmišlja o nedavni preteklosti, zadnji vojni, nebrzdanem nacionalizmu, politični represiji, kolektivnem spominu in moralni odgovornosti ter vedno znova tudi o osebni in nacionalni identiteti.
Vladimir Arsenijević je pisatelj, prevajalec, urednik in publicist. Za svoj prvi roman V podpalubju je leta 1994 dobil NIN-ovo nagrado ter postal najmlajši avtor v zgodovini njenega podeljevanja in hkrati prvi, ki je bil nagrajen za literarni prvenec. Temu kultnemu romanu, prevedenemu v več kot 20 jezikov, so sledili romani Ti in jaz , Anđela , Proti meji in Duhovi , s katerim je leta 2023 sklenil tetralogijo Cloaca Maxima, ter knjiga kratkih zgodb Minuta. (Pot okoli sveta v 60 sekundah) , dnevniška proza Mehika – vojni dnevnik , knjiga esejev Jugolaboratorij itn. Arsenijević je tudi kolumnist in komentator političnega in družbenega dogajanja ter soustanovitelj združenja Krokodil, ene osrednjih nevladnih organizacij v Srbiji. Živi v Beogradu.
