The Secret World of autism International Conference is organized annually by Nusa Piber within the Do RE MI Music Center in Bled. This year, the conference will be held due to the importance of the interweaving of the educational and working environment at the Academy of music in Ljubljana, as we want to promote multidisiciplinary cooperation of the entire vertical of musical and educational institutions.
The active intertwining of knowledge and cooperation between the Academy of music and The Music Center DO RE MI has been going on for more than a decade. We worked together on autism and music in 2018 as part of the SHIPK project. The result was the monograph music and autism by the editors Dr. Katarina Haba and Dr. Barbara Smolej Fritz, and this year we are looking forward to the completion of the doctoral dissertation of one of the participants of the SHIPK project, Kaja Korosec, who received her doctorate at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm on the topic the role of music in the well-being of adults with autism.
At this year's consultation, the Invited lecture will be prepared by a psychologist and psychotherapist, dr. Lia Katarina Kompan Erzar, and the central theme will be a look at the relationships in the process of musical engagement of the student Nal Frankovic, who has been studying at the Do RE MI Music Center since 2011.
The consultation is always aimed at intertwining different views on autism, which will be presented at this year's consultation by dr. Marta Macedoni Luksic, Dr. Branka Borisic, Dr. Kaja Korosec, Dr. Adam Ockelford and Nina Kompare. Dr. Katarina Habe and Dr. Andreja Marcun Kompan will present the work of the group for the implementation of inclusion in music schools, which operates at the MVI in Ljubljana.at the end of the consultation, Dr. Katarina Habe will lead a round table on the topic Music – the way to life. Ivan Vodopivec, a Feldenkrais therapist with extensive experience in working with people with autism, will take care of the active minutes at the consultation.
The consultation will actively involve students of UL AG in the course Psychology and music therapy, as we believe that in modern times, the interplay of Higher music education with current topics of professional practice in music education is crucial for promoting higher quality and for successful integration of educational and work environment.
Katarine Habe in dr.
Adam Ockelford in Nina Kompare. Dr. Katarina Habe in dr.
