Masha Badger: synthetic organisms Maša Jazbec: Sintetični organizmi

culture exhibition

With the exhibition synthetic organisms, artist and researcher Masha Jazbec focuses on ideas about the coexistence of Man and robot and presents a synthesis of her many years of research in the field of humanioid robots. In the exhibition center of the former monastery church, a holistic spatial installation is set up, which addresses many fundamental social and ethical issues with visual means, such as the understanding of life and vividness, the relationship between organic and inorganic matter and the possible substitutability of the human species.

The artist addresses many of the challenges of modern times related to the perception and use of advanced technologies through the perspective of their social complexity, which is why her works go beyond the technical aspects of robotics and address, in particular, conceptual and existential issues related to it. He does not perceive modern technologies as self-evident, but critically and analytically dissects them in relation to current social realities. In her multi-faceted practice, Masha Jazbec works as an artist and scientific researcher of humanoid robotics, and she also translates empirical findings into her works of art that analyze and predict the possible future of civilization. In addition to the scientific paradigms of robotics, the exhibition, based on sculptures of fictional androids, also refers to science fiction literature and film, which in the past century have been an important factor for anticipating and understanding life in the future. She enriched robotics as an exact interdisciplinary science with a sociological and philosophical questioning of what it means to be human today. The state of mind of the human species is also reflected in our attitude towards robots.

Umetnica številne izzive sodobnega časa, povezane s percepcijo in rabo naprednih tehnologij, obravnava skozi perspektivo njihove družbene kompleksnosti, zato njena dela presegajo tehnične vidike robotike in naslavljajo zlasti z njo povezana konceptualna in eksistencialna vprašanja.
