In the fall of 2023, I went to Japan for a year. My new home has become Kyoto, the former capital of Japan and one of the more familiar cities on the country's tourist map. I arrived just in time for the coloring of the autumn leaves, which glowed especially beautifully in the vicinity of some 1000 temples, as many as are located in the city and the surrounding area. The pleasant autumn also took me to the city of Nara, which is home to thousands of wild deer, to the Osaka metropolis with colorful markets and neon signs, and to the city of Kobe, the homeland of the famous Kobe beef, and with some good opportunities for hikes. During the New Year holidays, I escaped the Kyoto winter (and the earthquake of the first of January) on the tropical islands of Okina Alce. There I was especially impressed by the turquoise color of the sea and the hospitality of my hostess Takako-san, but I was stunned by the cruelty of the last major battle II. the World War and its consequences. During the winter months, it is worth warming up in Japanese spas called onsen – I visited the place Kinosaki onsen and walked around the small town among the seven public onsen in the modukati and ghettos. If you do not yet know what these words mean, you will find out during the lecture. Winter is also a good time to visit the Japanese capital Tokyo, as there are the fewest tourists all year round, and the Japanese Alps, where the thatched roofs of traditional UNESCO-protected houses are covered with snow cover. We end the lecture in Nagasaki, a city of cruel history, as well as an interesting abandoned island in the form of a battleship, and in the oldest national park in Japan, Unzen.

The lecture is free of charge and will take place via the Zoom app and live at the premises of the AIA - Youth Center Menges, Slovenska C. 28.

Tam sta me posebno navdušila turkizna barva morja in gostoljubje moje gostiteljice Takako-san, osupnila pa sta me krutost zadnje večje bitke II. svetovne vojne in njene posledice.
