The Carinthian gallery of Fine Arts (KGLU) marks the centenary of the birth of one of the most important Slovenian artists of the second half of the 20th century. at the beginning of the XIX century, he is preparing a retrospective exhibition of Bogdan Borchi's documentary (1926-2014) . The exhibition, which brings together key works from all periods of his creation, offers one of the most comprehensive and interpretively rounded insights into his oeuvre so far.
"The exhibition ponu ja a comprehensive and multi-faceted insight into the extensive and diverse Martial Arts opus of the early works of the 50s. flight, through graphic cycles and minimalism 80. flight, until the return to the narrative painting in the Atelier cycle. This principle culminates in Ceci ne pas la pipe de Rene Magritte (this is not the pipe of Rene Magritte) (2013). The artist's works will be presented chronologically, with selected highlights that reveal his in – depth exploration of individual motifs-from Mediterranean motifs to door and studio motifs, which he created throughout his career. The exhibition also conceptually spills over the gallery walls, which will be painted in shades similar to those of the works and will emphasize the (Invisible) Color essence of the work. Along with paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures, the exhibition will present documentary materials, films and photographs. With the project, KGLU connects with the gallery of Bozidar Jakac in Kostanjevica, to which the artist paid tribute to the entire graphic opus, while he donated the painting works to KGLU (50 works). After the artist's death, the kglu collection was significantly replenished with a gift from the family, who in 2018 donated more than 200 works by Borchi Faktu to the gallery. The collection thus grew to 330 works, including 314 paintings, 11 prints and 5 sculptures. The exhibition will feature 20 works of painting, of which 6 will be from private collections, 34 graphic works from the collection of the Bozidar Jakac Gallery, 3 drawings and 3 sculptures.
"The fighters of entertainment's paintings act as richly structured, haptic objects overlaid with layers of paint applied by the artist gradually, layer by layer, thereby building the illusion of depth. His artistic language is consciously ambivalent and eludes unambiguous interpretation; it comes from a deep knowledge of the painting tradition, while remaining open to contemporary influences. In reduced color worlds, the personal and the Universal, the intimate and the monumental are intertwined.«

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Bogdan Borchi (1926-2014) is one of the most prominent and important Slovenian painters and graphic artists of the second half of the 20s. century, recognized also in the wider international space. After World War II, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, where he later worked as an assistant and professor for graphics. In 1984, he moved to Slovenj Gradec, where he continued to create until his death.
Borchi okelli's artistic greatness is manifested not only in his extensive opus, but above all in his exceptional consistency, his research zeal, and in his sensitive search for poetry and beauty in everyday things. He is a recipient of the Presern Lifetime Achievement Award and an honorary citizen of the municipality of Slovenj Gradec. His collection is among the central collections of the Carinthian gallery of Fine Arts.

Koroška galerija likovnih umetnosti (KGLU) ob stoletnici rojstva enega najpomembnejših slovenskih umetnikov druge polovice 20. stoletja pripravlja retrospektivno razstavo Bogdana Borčića (1926–2014) . Razstava, ki združuje ključna dela iz vseh obdobij njegovega ustvarjanja, ponuja enega najbolj celovitih in interpretativno zaokroženih vpogledov v njegov opus doslej.
»Razstava ponu ja celovit in večplasten vpogled v obsežen in raznolik Borčićev opus od zgodnjih del iz 50. let, prek grafičnih ciklov in minimalizma 80. let, do povratka k narativni sliki v ciklu Atelje. Ta princip doseže vrhunec v delu Ceci ne pas la pipe de Rene Magritte (To ni pipa Rene Magritta) (2013). Umetnikova dela bodo predstavljena kronološko, z izbranimi poudarki, ki razkrivajo njegovo poglobljeno raziskovanje posameznih motivov – od mediteranskih motivov do motivov vrat in ateljeja, ki jih je ustvarjal skozi celo kariero. Razstava se konceptualno razliva tudi po galerijskih stenah, ki bodo pobarvane v odtenke, sorodne tistim na delih in bodo poudarile (nevidno) barvno esenco dela. S čimer se ga dotikajo, a v resnici ne dosežejo.«

Ob slikah, grafikah, risbah in skulpturah bo razstava predstavila dokumentarno gradivo, filme in fotografije. S projektom se KGLU povezuje z Galerijo Božidarja Jakca v Kostanjevici, ki ji je umetnik poklonil celotni grafični opus, medtem ko je slikarska dela podaril KGLU (50 del). Zbirka KGLU se je po umetnikovi smrti še pomembno dopolnila z darilom družine, ki je leta 2018 galeriji podarila več kot 200 Borčićevih del. Zbirka je tako narasla na 330 del, od tega 314 slik, 11 grafik in 5 skulptur. Na razstavi bo predstavljenih 20 slikarskih del, od katerih bo 6 del iz zasebnih zbirk, 34 grafičnih del iz zbirke Galerije Božidarja Jakca, 3 risbe in 3 skulpture.
»Borčićeve slike delujejo kot bogato strukturirani, haptični objekti, prekriti s plastmi barve, ki jih umetnik nanaša postopoma, plast za plastjo, in s tem gradi iluzijo globine. Njegova likovna govorica je zavestno ambivalentna in se izmika enoznačni interpretaciji; izhaja iz poglobljenega poznavanja slikarske tradicije, hkrati pa ostaja odprta za sodobne vplive. V reduciranih barvnih svetovih se prepletata osebno in univerzalno, intimno in monumentalno.«

O UMETNIKU
Bogdan Borčić (1926–2014) je eden najvidnejših in najpomembnejših slovenskih slikarjev in grafikov druge polovice 20. stoletja, prepoznaven tudi v širšem mednarodnem prostoru. Po drugi svetovni vojni je študiral na Akademiji za likovno umetnost v Ljubljani, kjer je kasneje deloval kot asistent in profesor za grafiko. Leta 1984 se je preselil v Slovenj Gradec, kjer je ustvarjal vse do svoje smrti.
Borčićeva umetniška veličina se ne kaže zgolj v obsežnem opusu, temveč predvsem v izjemni konsistentnosti, raziskovalni vnemi ter v občutljivem iskanju poezije in lepote v vsakdanjih rečeh. Je prejemnik Prešernove nagrade za življenjsko delo in častni občan Mestne občine Slovenj Gradec. Njegova zbirka sodi med osrednje zbirke Koroške galerije likovne umetnosti.
