Invitation to a music concert
In addition to co-creating a stable economic environment, the Bank of Slovenia understands its mission more broadly as a commitment to strengthening the well-being of this and future generations. Therefore, we are increasingly putting young generations at the forefront – their education and the opportunity to express themselves in a modern environment. Art, Musical, fine art or any other, is one of the tools with which their message can reach people. In the small gallery of the Bank of Slovenia, we are opening our doors to young visual artists, and we are also implementing our mission in the field of music.
In 2013, the Bank of Slovenia launched a project to lend a premium instrument to young musical talents by purchasing a superb violin by Jean-Baptiste vuillaum, made in 1850. Since its purchase, the violin has been in use by the renowned Slovenian violinist Tanja Sonc, who has already performed with it on many World Stages and won several prestigious awards.
In the past year, therefore, we decided to continue the support of the development of young musicians and expand the range of musical instruments by purchasing another top violin by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaum from the period 1840-1845, model Guarnerius del GES/. Within the framework of interinstitutional integration, the project was conceived in cooperation with the Academy of music of the University of Ljubljana in order to dedicate the violin to the long-term use of its students. Giving concerts on a top instrument enables young talented musicians to prove themselves in top competitions both at home and abroad, thus contributing to the promotion of the cultural wealth and diversity of Slovenia.
On this occasion, a week before Preseren's day, the Slovenian cultural holiday, we cordially invite you to a solemn concert dedicated to the handover of the new violin of the Bank of Slovenia to the students of the Academy of music. The concert will take place on Sunday, 1. in February 2026, at 20. classes in the Julija Betetta Hall (Academy of music, University of Ljubljana, Kongresni trg 1, Ljubljana ). The evening will be marked by the performance of both Violins of the Bank of Slovenia – Tanja Sonc will play the first violin, and a student of the Ul Rok Academy of music will crash into Chernosh on the second.
Before listening to the one-hour musical concert, the deputy governor of the Bank of Slovenia Primoz Dolenc and the dean of the Academy of music of the University of Ljubljana Karolina Shantl Zupan will address the audience .
We cordially invite you to join us on this solemn occasion.
The event is free, and you confirm your participation in the concert via the online form no later than Monday, 26. in January 2026.

Leta 2013 smo v Banki Slovenije z nakupom vrhunske violine Jeana-Baptista Vuillauma, izdelane leta 1850, zagnali projekt posojanja vrhunskega inštrumenta mladim glasbenim talentom.
Preden bomo prisluhnili enournemu glasbenemu koncertu, bosta zbrane nagovorila namestnik guvernerja Banke Slovenije Primož Dolenc in dekanja Akademije za glasbo Univerze v Ljubljani Karolina Šantl Zupan .
