Director Methodius singer and psychiatrist Vladimir Milosevi / / enter the central Slovenian prison in Dobo, where for a year and a half they accompany a group of convicts for the most serious crimes involved in the process of psychodrama. In the safe space of therapeutic meetings, prisoners return to childhood, family relationships, trauma, violence, guilt and responsibility and reflect on life after serving their sentence. Through their sincere confessions, the Film reveals the complex life paths of people who are most often known to the public only through the black Chronicle, and raises questions about the possibility of change and reintegration into society.
With a subtle sense of Man, the Methodius Singer directs his gaze beyond crime and stereotypes. He does not create a film about prison, but a shocking documentary about people in extreme life circumstances. When I get out it won the audience award for Best film on the 27th. It increasingly seems to me that the best starting point for a documentary is where I do not understand something, but at the same time it attracts me irresistibly. When I was in prison for the first time, I met very special people. I experienced them as characters, as heroes that I would like to write myself. If I could. Life writes better, so I preferred to return there documentary. And, of course, also adventurous, because at the beginning I had no idea who would even join our psychodrama and film interests. But which of these criminals will go with an uncovered face and honest interest to meet with a psychiatrist and a movie camera? Tell your trauma, your sin, talk about your fear and insecurity? Many came, and only those who I could consider my friends after this filming remained. About the director
Metod Pevec, born in 1958 in Ljubljana, is an experienced film director and screenwriter, writer and actor. He has directed numerous feature and documentary films, among which stand out Carmen (feature, 1996), under her window (feature, 2003), good night, Miss (feature, 2011), Alexandrines (documentary, 2011), exercises in an embrace (feature, 2012), Home (documentary, 2015) and I am Frenk (feature, 2019). He is the recipient of the Golden arena Awards for directing at the Pula Film Festival in 2011 and 2020 for the best direction of good night, Miss or I am Frank and several vesna Awards at the Slovenian Film Festival, among them for the best direction of rehearsals in an embrace and for the Best Documentary Films Alexandrinka and Dom in 2011 and 2015. In 2013, he received Slovenia's highest cultural award, the Preserna Fund Award, for his directorial achievements.

Režiser Metod Pevec in psihiater Vladimir Milošević vstopita v osrednji slovenski zapor na Dobu, kjer leto in pol spremljata skupino obsojencev za najtežja kazniva dejanja, vključeno v proces psihodrame. V varnem prostoru terapevtskih srečanj se zaporniki vračajo k otroštvu, družinskim odnosom, travmam, nasilju, krivdi in odgovornosti ter razmišljajo o življenju po prestani kazni. Film skozi njihove iskrene izpovedi razkriva kompleksne življenjske poti ljudi, ki jih javnost največkrat pozna le skozi črno kroniko, ter odpira vprašanja o možnosti spremembe in ponovnega vključevanja v družbo.
Metod Pevec s pretanjenim občutkom za človeka usmeri pogled onkraj kaznivega dejanja in stereotipov. Ne ustvari filma o zaporu, temveč pretresljiv dokumentarec o ljudeh v skrajnih življenjskih okoliščinah. Ko pridem ven je prejel nagrado občinstva za najboljši film na 27. Festivalu slovenskega filma.
Vse bolj se mi zdi, da je najboljše izhodišče za dokumentarni film tam, kjer nečesa ne razumem, ampak me to hkrati neustavljivo privlači. Ko sem bil prvič v zaporu na Dobu, sem srečal zelo posebne ljudi. Doživel sem jih kot like, kot junake, ki bi jih rad sam napisal. Če bi znal. Življenje piše bolje, zato sem se tja raje vrnil dokumentaristično. In seveda tudi avanturistično, saj na začetku nisem imel pojma, kdo se bo sploh pridružil našemu psihodramskemu in filmskemu interesu. Kdo od teh kriminalcev bo pa šel z nezakritim obrazom in poštenim zanimanjem na srečanje s psihiatrom in filmsko kamero? Povedati svojo travmo, svoj greh, govoriti o svojem strahu in negotovosti? Prišli so številni, ostali pa samo tisti, ki bi jih po tem snemanju lahko štel za svoje prijatelje. Večkrat me je spremljal varljiv in neprofesionalen občutek, da film tokrat sploh ni bil na prvem mestu. – Metod Pevec
O režiserju
Metod Pevec, rojen leta 1958 v Ljubljani, je izkušen filmski režiser in scenarist, pisatelj in igralec. Režiral je številne igrane in dokumentarne filme, med katerimi izstopajo Carmen (igrani, 1996), Pod njenim oknom (igrani, 2003), Lahko noč, gospodična (igrani, 2011), Aleksandrinke (dokumentarni, 2011), Vaje v objemu (igrani, 2012), Dom (dokumentarni, 2015) in Jaz sem Frenk (igrani, 2019). Je prejemnik nagrad zlata arena za režijo na filmskem festivalu v Pulju leta 2011 in 2020 za najboljšo režijo filmov Lahko noč, gospodična oziroma Jaz sem Frenk ter več nagrad vesna na Festivalu slovenskega filma, med njimi za najboljšo režijo filma Vaje v objemu ter za najboljša dokumentarna filma Aleksandrinke in Dom leta 2011 in 2015. Leta 2013 je za svoje režijske dosežke prejel najvišje slovensko kulturno priznanje, nagrado Prešernovega sklada.
