A realistic reconstruction of the killing of a six-year-old girl in Gaza from the point of view of the medical team trying to organize her salvation.
January 2024. Volunteers of the Palestinian humanitarian organization Red Crescent receive an urgent call at the call center. A six-year-old girl who was trapped in a car during Israeli shelling comes from the neighborhood of Tel al-Ha 6A in the south of the city of Gaza. As the rescuers learn, members of her family are also present in the car, who, according to her, are “asleep”, spilled with blood. The team is trying to do everything possible by telephone to keep the girl on the line and convince her to continue hiding in the car. However, other problems arise. The Ministry of Health cannot provide the ambulance with a safe passage, as the life of the medical team could be at risk. A tense game with Time begins, in which everyone strives for a happy ending.
I heard an audio recording of Hind Rajab's distress call. Then I realized that I had to give up everything else. I had to make this movie. / ... / I cannot accept a world in which a child asks for help, and no one comes. This pain, this failure belongs to all of us. The story is not just about Gaza. It reflects universal woe. I believe that fiction (especially when it draws from verified, painful, real events) is the most powerful tool of cinema. januar 2024. Prostovoljci palestinske humanitarne organizacije Rdeči polmesec v klicnem centru prejmejo nujen klic. Iz soseske Tel al-Hawa na jugu mesta Gaza se oglasi šestletna punčka, ki je med izraelskim obstreljevanjem ostala ujeta v avtu. Kot izvedo reševalci, so v avtu prisotni tudi člani njene družine, ki po njenih besedah “spijo”, preliti s krvjo. Ekipa poskuša po telefonski zvezi storiti vse, da bi deklico obdržala na liniji in jo prepričala, naj se še naprej skriva v avtomobilu. Vendar pa se pojavijo druge težave. Ministrstvo za zdravje reševalnemu vozilu ne more zagotoviti varnega prehoda, saj bi bilo lahko ogroženo življenje zdravniške ekipe. Začne se napeta igra s časom, v kateri si vsi prizadevajo za srečen konec.
Slišala sem avdio posnetek klica na pomoč Hind Rajab. /…/ Tedaj sem nedvomno spoznala, da moram opustiti vse drugo. Morala sem posneti ta film. /…/ Ne morem sprejeti sveta, v katerem otrok prosi za pomoč, pa nihče ne pride. Ta bolečina, ta neuspeh pripada vsem nam. Zgodba ne govori zgolj o Gazi. Odslikava univerzalno gorje. Verjamem, da je fikcija (zlasti ko črpa iz preverjenih, bolečih, resničnih dogodkov) najmočnejše orodje kinematografije. Močnejše od hrupa aktualnih novic ali zamaknjenosti drsenja po zaslonu. Film lahko ohrani spomin. Film se lahko zoperstavi amneziji. Naj se glas Hind Rajab sliši. – Kaouther ben Hania
