The American jazz guitarist, Alces Montgomer F. C. (1923-1968), is considered one of the most influential guitarists in jazz history. With his recognizable technique of playing with the thumb instead of the pick, his characteristic use of octaves and his exceptional musicality, he created a unique sound that still inspires jazz musicians around the world today.
The Tribute to Alces project Montgomer is a tribute to his rich musical legacy. Guitarist Igor Leonardi, together with top Slovenian jazz musicians, will recreate part of Montgomer's opus, which combines jazz, blues and Latin American musical influences.
Only Hude will join him on stage - piano, Tadej Kampl-bass and Tijan Grazic-drums, and Amra Alji / Leonardi - vocals and Primoz Grazic - guitar as special guests.
Ameriški jazzovski kitarist Wes Montgomery (1923–1968) velja za enega najvplivnejših kitaristov v zgodovini jazza. S svojo prepoznavno tehniko igranja s palcem namesto trzalice, značilno uporabo oktav ter izjemno muzikalnostjo je ustvaril edinstven zvok, ki še danes navdihuje jazzovske glasbenike po vsem svetu.
Projekt Tribute to Wes Montgomery je poklon njegovi bogati glasbeni zapuščini. Kitarist Igor Leonardi bo skupaj z vrhunskimi slovenskimi jazzovskimi glasbeniki poustvaril del Montgomeryjevega opusa, ki združuje jazz, blues in latinskoameriške glasbene vplive.
Na odru se mu bodo pridružili Samo Hude - klavir, Tadej Kampl - bas in Tijan Grašič - bobni, kot posebna gosta pa še Amra Aljić Leonardi - vokal in Primož Grašič - kitara.
