In February, the SNT Drama Ljubljana will present a new production of An Enemy of the People . In this powerful play, Henrik Ibsen explores the struggle of an idealistic individual who, in his sincere pursuit of truth and justice, comes into conflict with a rigid social system unwilling to acknowledge its own mistakes or accept change. The play is regarded as one of Ibsen’s most significant works and boasts a remarkably rich history of interpretations and stage productions. Ahead of the premiere, you are warmly invited to a lecture offering a historical overview of encounters with Ibsen’s plays on Slovenian stages. Through photographic and critical materials, Dr. Matic Kocijančič , curator and head of the archive collection at the Slovenian Theatre Institute, will trace the legacy of Ibsen’s presence in Slovenian theatrical tradition.
