France Gorse France Gorše

culture exhibition

FRANCE gorse (1897, Zamostec pri Sodrazici – 1986, Golnik pri Kranju) studied sculpture at the Zagreb academy. After living in Trieste for a few years, he opened a private Drawing School in Ljubljana, which was attended by some of today's established Slovenian artists. Before the end of the war, he emigrated to Trieste and in 1952 to America and returned to candles in Carinthia in 1971. His extensive oeuvre is dominated by expressive portraits, nudes and genre motifs. A special place is occupied by works with religious motives. In creative experimentation, he discovered a new technique – The Nutcracker. The permanent collection also includes a larger donation (1998) by Dr. Slavka Bratina from Canada. A total exhibition of 36 plastics with paintings by Joze Gorjup has been on display since 1992.

V njegovem obsežnem opusu prevladujejo ekspresivni portreti, akti in žanrski motivi. Posebno mesto zavzemajo dela z religiozno motiviko. V ustvarjalnem eksperimentiranju je odkril novo tehniko – orešec. V stalno zbirko sodi tudi obsežnejša donacija (1998) dr.
