Roman Kumarca, who won the third prize in the new novel 2026 literary competition, takes us to Carinthia, during the Second World War. In the center of the story is young Branko, an apprentice in a metal workshop in Prevalje, who faces growing up and the dangers of wartime in a world of scarcity, fear and uncertainty. The story of courage, loyalty, responsibility and hope is deeply connected with the Carinthian space and collective memory.
The conversation with the author Franz Jutersko , former director and commander of the Carinthian fire service, will be conducted by Adrijan Zalesnik , and the event will be accompanied by Milan Kamnik .

V središču zgodbe je mladi Branko, vajenec v kovinarski delavnici na Prevaljah, ki se v svetu pomanjkanja, strahu in negotovosti sooča z odraščanjem ter nevarnostmi vojnega časa. Pogovor z avtorjem Francem Juterškom , nekdanjim direktorjem in poveljnikom Koroškega gasilskega zavoda, bo vodil Adrijan Zalesnik , prireditev pa bo glasbeno pospremil Milan Kamnik .
