The story of Peter Naglich and how Slovenia as we know it today looked a hundred years ago.
The documentary photographer reveals the extraordinary story of amateur photographer Peter Naglic, who is in his first half of 20. over 10,000 photographs were taken in the XIX century. He hastily, in seemingly everyday scenes, recognized exciting attractions and photographed her as photo-stories, even before the emergence of modern photojournalism. He provided the photographs on the back with place markers, dates and descriptions of motifs, thereby placing them in the context of time and space. Peter Naglic thus captured in his photographs the birth of a modern Slovenian identity.
In the film, The team follows Naglice's grandson, Matjaz Shporar, who goes in the footsteps of his grandfather's photographic legacy. In order to be able to observe the world as the Naglich saw it, the Sporter makes a special "visor", which he installs on his grandfather's photographic tripod and inserts transparencies with his grandfather's photographs into it. Through the transparencies, he thus rediscovers the places from which Naglic photographed his famous motifs in Slovenia hundreds of years ago.
With the help of artificial intelligence applications, we and the creators of the British studio Untold Garden have also revived selected Naglic photographs and thus created Slovenian historical "film clips" in the documentary , which were never really filmed. The story in the film is concluded by a photographic exhibition, for which photographers and curators Joze Suhadolnik and Barbara Ceferin selected thirty of the best and most important Naglica photographs. Peter Naglich was voiced by Slovenian drama actor Matej Puc .

Zgodba o Petru Nagliču in o tem, kako je Slovenija, kot jo poznamo danes, izgledala pred stotimi leti.
Dokumentarni film FOTOGRAF razkriva izjemno zgodbo ljubiteljskega fotografa Petra Nagliča, ki je v prvi polovici 20. stoletja posnel več kot 10.000 fotografij. Naglič je, v na videz vsakdanjih prizorih, prepoznaval vznemirljive atrakcije in ji fotografiral kot foto-zgodbe, še pred nastankom sodobne fotoreportaže. Fotografije je na hrbtni strani opremljal s krajevnimi oznakami, datumi in opisi motivov ter jih s tem postavljal v kontekst časa in prostora. Peter Naglič je tako na svojih fotografijah ujel rojstvo sodobne slovenske identitete.
V filmu ekipa spremlja Nagličevega vnuka Matjaža Šporarja, ki se odpravi po sledeh dedove fotografske zapuščine. Da bi lahko opazoval svet, kot ga je videl Naglič, Šporar izdela poseben »vizir«, ki ga namesti na dedov fotografski stativ in vanj vstavlja prosojnice z dedovimi fotografijami. Skozi prosojnice tako znova odkriva mesta, s katerih je Naglič pred stotimi leti, po Sloveniji fotografiral svoje znamenite motive.
S pomočjo aplikacij umetne inteligence, smo z ustvarjalci britanskega studia Untold Garden , izbrane Nagličeve fotografije tudi oživili in tako v dokumentarcu ustvarili slovenske zgodovinske »filmske posnetke«, ki pa niso bili nikoli zares posneti. Zgodbo v filmu sklene fotografska razstava, za katero sta fotografa in kuratorja Jože Suhadolnik ter Barbara Čeferin , izbrala trideset najboljših in najpomembnejših Nagličevih fotografij. Petru Nagliču je glas v filmu posodil slovenski dramski igralec Matej Puc .
V okviru projekta Predstavitve slovenskih filmov, bo po filmu Fotograf pogovor z režiserjem Miho Čelarjem.
