In the European capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica-Gorica, the phases of the E for Europe project are completed with two days of guided research and performances celebrating Europe and the Gorizia region.
1. in September, the day will be hosted by Andrea Bellavite, author of Gorizia and Nova Gorica. Connected cities (Ediciclo Editore), which takes the reader on a journey through stories, architecture, languages and memories.
2. in September, the participants will be led by Evelin Bizjak, an expert on the border between Gorizia and Nova Gorica. Participants will follow a circular route along the border, explore stories of borders, resistance and endurance, visit symbolic points such as Rafut park, Kostanjevica and Europe Square, and discover hidden corners and cultural treasures that tell the story of two cities.
At the end of the walk, around 20.30 , the organizers will offer a toast to celebrate the joint gathering of the party. The evening will continue with a show along the routes of Europe at the epicenter. Written and performed by Mattia Cason and Alessandro Conte, with the participation of the Syrian poet and writer Muhammad ‘Abd al-Mun’ima, the work interweaves contemporary testimonies, mythology and the memory of history. The text of a Syrian author, a refugee in Slovenia, merges with the text of an anonymous Arab author from 15. century, which recounts The Adventures of Alexander The Great in a theatrical, dance and film narrative that invites reflection on the central role of migration in European history and the building of a more inclusive and supportive community.
The event in Nova Gorica and Gorica has a special meaning: the border that separated the two cities for decades was never a real "Iron Curtain". The memory of those who crossed it and turned it into a space of encounter – despite divisions and separations – will be evoked during the walk and resonate in the performance.
Participation in the guided walk is free, but a reservation is required at +39 328 1547471.
The project, promoted by the Cultural Association vicino/lontano and the Society for social promotion Get Up, is being carried out in cooperation with ZRC SAZU, Bottega Errante, the path of Peace Foundation, Centro Studi Nediza Study Center, Radio onde Furlane, En-Knap Ljubljana and Lendhauer‑Verein zur Belebung del Lendkanals, with the support of GO! 2025 and the autonomous lands of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
E for Europe will also be held on 29. and 31. in August 2025. You are kindly invited.

Projekt, ki ga promovirata kulturna zveza vicino/lontano in društvo za socialno promocijo Get Up, se izvaja v sodelovanju z ZRC SAZU, Bottega Errante, Fundacija Pot Miru / Walk of Peace, Centro Studi Študijski Center Nediža, Radio Onde Furlane, En-Knap Ljubljana in Lendhauer‑Verein zur Belebung del Lendkanals, ob podpori GO! 2025 in Avtonomne dežele Furlanije Julijske krajine.
E for Europe bo potekal tudi 29. in 31. avgusta 2025. Vljudno vabljeni.
