Story
June 1940. France is defeated, its government signs an armistice, and the nation finds itself on the brink of despair. While most accept the inevitable capitulation, general Charles de Gaulle decides the impossible: to refuse defeat and continue the fight. Without an army, political support and assurances that someone will follow him, he leaves for London. There he urges the French not to lay down their weapons. At first, many see him as a lonely dreamer, but de Gaulle persists. Step by step, the first resistance fighters gather around him – soldiers, students, exiles and everyone who is ready to risk everything for freedom.
