An Olympic sport that combines strategy, precision and team spirit is returning to Maribor – curling .
As part of the event Curling returns to Maribor, an open day will be held, dedicated to all generations: families, recreational athletes and students who want to learn about the sport in a different, playful way.
Organized by the Curling Association of Slovenia and the curling club Maribor and supported by the municipality of Maribor, sports facilities Maribor and Sports Federation Maribor, it will take place on Saturday, 7. in March 2026 at 14:00 held a presentation of curling, a Winter Olympic sport.
We will diversify the event with a VIP match of famous media and sports persons, and we will also reward the best visitors in the competition "come and try" . The three competitors closest to the centre of the curling House will receive professional curling brooms worth 150 F. C.
During the open day, visitors will be:
learn the Basic Rules and course of the game,
watch the demonstration,
get involved in the guided competition "come and test" (also suitable for complete beginners),
learn how to engage in regular exercise and activities in Maribor,
follow the VIP match.
Prior knowledge is not required for participation, the organizers will provide basic instructions and a safe introduction to the sport.
A few words about the sport itself:
Curling is a sport that quickly impresses – because it is both tactical and fun, and very different ages can participate in it. With the open day, we want to show the people of Maribor that curling is accessible and that it is best to get to know it right on the ice. The key feature and value of this sport is ethics, which is especially relevant these days. Did you know that curling is the only sport where the one who wins pays a drink to the one who lost, that everyone takes away pleasant sensations from the match. One team win, the other drink. Good company is important and you are not lacking in curling.
For those who want top challenges and maybe someday participate as part of the Slovenian Olympic teams, a visit to the open day will be a must. At the event, the instructors of the Curling Federation of Slovenia will present a sport that at first glance works easily, but when visitors get to know it better, they will find that it is extremely demanding due to its specifics, as it takes place in challenging conditions and requires players to be extremely precise, able to anticipate, strategic approach and coordinated teamwork.

V Maribor se vrača olimpijski šport, ki združuje strategijo, natančnost in ekipni duh – curling .
V okviru dogodka Curling se vrača v Maribor bo potekal dan odprtih vrat, namenjen vsem generacijam: družinam, rekreativcem ter učencem in dijakom, ki želijo spoznati šport na drugačen, igriv način.
V organizaciji Curling zveze Slovenije in Curling kluba Maribor ter s podporo Mestne občine Maribor, Športnih objektov Maribor in Športne zveze Maribor bo v soboto, 7. marca 2026 ob 14:00 potekala predstavitev curlinga, zimskega olimpijskega športa.
Dogodek bomo popestrili z VIP tekmo znanih medijskih in športnih oseb, najboljše obiskovalce pa bomo tudi nagradili v tekmovanju »Pridi in preizkusi« . Trije tekmovalci, ki bodo najbližje centru curling hiše, bodo prejeli profesionalne metle za curling v vrednosti 150 €.
Na dnevu odprtih vrat bodo obiskovalci:
spoznali osnovna pravila in potek igre,
si ogledali demonstracijo,
se vključili v vodeno tekmovanje »Pridi in preizkusi« (primerno tudi za popolne začetnike),
izvedeli, kako se lahko vključijo v redno vadbo in aktivnosti v Mariboru,
spremljali VIP tekmo.
Za udeležbo predznanje ni potrebno, organizatorji bodo poskrbeli za osnovna navodila in varen uvod v šport.
Nekaj besed o samem športu:
Curling je šport, ki hitro navduši – ker je hkrati taktičen in zabaven, pri njem pa lahko sodelujejo zelo različne starosti. Z dnevom odprtih vrat želimo Mariborčanom pokazati, da je curling dostopen in da ga je najbolje spoznati kar na ledu. Ključna lastnost in vrednota tega športa je etika, kar je v današnjih časih še posebej aktualno. Ste morda vedeli, da je curling edini šport, kjer tisti, ki zmaga plača pijačo tistemu, ki je izgubil, da vsakdo od tekme odnese prijetne občutke. Ena ekipa zmago, druga pa pijačo. Važna je dobra družba in te v curlingu ne manjka.
Za tiste, ki si želijo vrhunskih izzivov in mogoče nekoč sodelovati kot del slovenske olimpijske reprezentanc, bo obisk dneva odprtih vrat nujen. Na dogodku bodo inštruktorji Curling zveze Slovenije predstavili šport, ki na prvi pogled deluje enostavno, ko pa ga bodo obiskovalci bolje spoznali bodo ugotovili, da je zaradi svojih specifik izredno zahteven, saj poteka v zahtevnih razmerah in od igralcev zahteva izjemno natančnost, sposobnost predvidevanja, strateški pristop in usklajeno timsko delo.
