Claes Oldenburg (1929-2022) is a Swedish artist known for large sculptures of everyday objects in public space. As one of the most influential representatives of pop art and performance, with his interactive
installations became recognizable since 60. years of the last century. His works, recognizable by their humor and unusual use of everyday objects, often turn banal objects into art. In one of his interviews, he said that the goal of his works is to remove the function of things, to make it a work of art. By selling his works directly from the space he designed, he commented on the art market and the traditional gallery model.
